Has anyone done the sleigh ride at Wildeness Lodge? I see that the hours are from 5:30 until 10. Im wondering is it better to experience the sleigh ride when it is dark or it doesnt really matter?

We went last year right as it was getting dark. I guess you could say we left at dusk and were finished by the time it was totally dark. The kids got a kick out of riding in the woods in the dark, but we couldnt really see much. I dont think theres really much to see except trees anyway, so I cant really say if it would make a difference.

We're planning to do the sleigh ride in December, for the first time! My DD will be so surprised! I'm hoping to do the sleigh ride around 6:00, then have dinner at Artist Point around 7:30!

Sounds like a fun time!! Can't wait!

Are the sleight rides only a Dec. option?? We will be there for Thanksgiving week & plan to have dinner at WL to check it out one night. We'd LOVE to do one! Is it resservation only??

Please tell me more details. Thanks!

We did the carriage (sleigh) ride last December. They call it a sleigh ride because it's Christmas, I guess...but needless to say their is no snow!

The previous poster was correct - all their is to look at is trees, so I think the dark would be more fun. We went in the dark and it was very nice. We REALLY enjoyed it.

WDW Carriage Rides

And you will get lots of info. You must make reservations and the cost is really minimal - only $30 for renting the carriage - the four of us fit easily in the carriage (2 not so small adults, an adult size 13 yo boy and a 10 yo girl).

I have pictures, but I can't post on these boards for some reason - probably because I never asked to!

do they only run 1 carriage at a time? with 7 of us, 2 adults & 5 kids, I don't think we will all fit.

Thanks for any info...this sounds like a lot of fun!

We did the sleigh ride at WL last Dec about 9pm. It was really a great time for my BF and I. The carriage is made to look kinda like a sleigh. The driver was very nice. He gave us a blanket as it was very cold that night. It was dark, but very romantic. We could hear the bells on the horse's harness and the clip clop of the hooves is very relaxing. I thought the cost ($30 last year, plus tip) was reasonable. I'm pretty sure they only run one carriage at a time. It is a narrow road and they need to make a tight turn to come back. I can recommend it and would do it again. I would think the carriage ride at FW is just as nice.

I thought that the women I spoke with said there was more than one sleigh. Also you can book 90 ahead so I already have mine done for nov. Call and ask for sure. The # is WDW Play.

I booked 2 sleighs back to back for our party of 8. One is a 7:00 and the other is at 7:30 on Dec. 3rd. I believe there is only 1 sleigh.

Just want to be sure...is it $30 per person, or $30 for our family of 4 (DD7, DMIL, DW, & me).

Its $30.00/per sleigh ride, so a family of 4 could go for $30.00(+ tip). I beleive they said the sleigh can hold 4 adults or 2 adults & 3 kids...but this is what I remember from last year so I could be wrong.
