I am trying to talk DH into another trip sooner than he wants to. We rented DVC points last time but split the cost with my parents. This would just be for our family.

We need room for 5 (2 adults and 3 kids). Because of heath issues, we need to do some meals (especially breakfast and usually dinner) in room. Cereal and sandwiches would work. We had the full kitchen last time but have recently here at home been able to survive with a fridge and microwave. I am trying to see if those would be available in anything less $$ than renting DVC points again.

TIA!

Fort Wilderness Cabins are moderately priced and have a nice kitchen area.

Regular resort rooms (non DVC, Non FW Cabins) do not have microwaves. They are available as a request at some resorts, but they can not be reserved, they are not guaranteed, and there are not many of them to start with.
Vicki C's suggestion for a DVC Studio Villa is one option, but with that, other than OKW, you only get 1 real Queen bed. The others sleeping spaces are a double sleep sofa and a pull down, single murphy bed. I don't know if that will work for your family or not

Not sure what your budget is or if this would be cheaper than renting a dvc studio, but Art of Animation family suites sleep 6 and have a kitchenette with mini fridge, sink and microwave. There is also a table that changes into a bed so it's a real place to sit for meals since you may be eating 2 meals a day in the room.

I'm an on-site girl, but we have rented a home once (5 min from AK) when we needed to bring the dogs. It really was nice in a lot of ways and way cheaper. Lots of room, private pool, and a really well set up kitchen. PM me if you want $/details.

You can do a 1 br at BWV and BCV with 5 people if you are staying on points. The kids would have to sleep on the pull out couch and you'd need to bring an air mattress for the 3rd kid. This is allowed by Disney at those two resorts. You have to bring or ship an air mattress and either pay a small fee ($10) for bedding or bring a sleeping bag. You get the full kitchen that way.

We have stayed at AoA and the space is really nice.
The family suites at the All star resorts are a little less though.

Unless there was a special discount I'd expect renting DVC to be the least expensive that has those amenities.

VWL will currently be the least points. BWV and BCV are currently getting renovated to allow 5 in the studios and the BWV standard view will then be the least amount of points. Then there is also VGF and PVB that allow 5 in studios but will be the most expensive. All will have a microwave and a small fridge.

ASMu family suite was great for us! Cheapest option I could find. Next trip we are doing a split study between AoA nemo suite & a FW cabin. The music suites were about $200 less than AoA suites when we went!

I was also going to say the Poly studios. They sleep 5 (but only one "real" bed) and have the kitchenette, plus the extra half bath. If you have a Disney Visa and are going between now and Oct. 5th they are running a 35% off discount. I just booked ours for July for $309/night, which I thought was pretty darn good :)

Thanks all! I am checking out all the options now. We stayed at CBC last time and loved the location (kids loved DHS) but with the renovations happening there, I am wondering if we should look elsewhere because it's going to be a mess there I assume for a while? We are thinking of planning Nov. 16

POR and CBR sleep five and have a fridge but no micro(you do have access to one in the foodcourt tho if that would work). We are only four, but we eat breaky in our room (cereal, muffins, juice ect.) and it works perfectly for us. Those would probably be your most economical options.
Good luck!
Tara

Does CBC mean Caribbean Beach Resort? They aren't doing any renovations there now. They finished all the renovations already except for the Pirate Rooms. Or do you mean Beach Club Resort/Beach Club Villas? I don't think the renovations will affect the guests much.

Sorry, I was confusing the abbreviations. We stayed at Beach Club Villas. I was meaning the renovations at DHS which was the park we spent the most time at when we were there which was perfect for us (we had park hoppers so the Epcot/DHS being so close was a huge plus!) I understand there is going to be a lot of reworking of DHS and wondering if that would make it less desirable when we go back.
