Sleeping situation with DS 15 months -- questions

My DS will be 15 months old for our trip in May. At home he usually sleeps in his crib, but occasionally I sleep with him on the floor in his room on a sleeping bag. I would let him sleep in our bed, but I'm always afraid he will fall out. I'm worried that he won't want to sleep in the pack and play in the hotel, so I'm trying to figure out where he and I could sleep without me worrying all night that he will fall out of bed! We are staying at the Beach Club. Can I push a bed against the wall so that side would be blocked? Can I throw the daybed cushion on the floor and he could sleep on that? (for some reason, he likes sleeping on the floor, even by himself, better than his crib sometimes!) Ideas? Thoughts? BTDT advice? Thanks in advance!

The do have bed rails available to guests for toddlers.

DS 23 mo slept between dh and I with no problems.

Do you have a pack and play at home? Maybe give him naps or even overnight put him in there and see how it works?

www.abbf.com also rents full size cribs if you really are concerned about the pack and play.

When we stayed at BC when DS was 18 mos. , they had cribs. brass type thing but it wasn't paknplay there. We put it against window and still had plenty of room. Call and ask if you can get crib and not paknplay. Else, the bed rails on bothsides.

I know that a few of the onsight properties can provide trundle beds. Really close tho the floor twin mattress that you can then just slide back under regular bed during waking hours. Wouldn't hurt to see if your hotel has any. :)

One of our trips we stayed at Poly and I turned the couch around so it touched the back wall it worked perfect for us.

We used (or tried to use more appropriately) the bed rails on our last trip. The rails only come up about 2" higher than the mattress. I wouldn't count on them.

Can he sleep between the two of you?

He probably could sleep between us if we have a king size bed. If we get the two queen beds, DS and I can sleep in one and Dh in the other.

Can the "daybed" at the Beach Club be turned around or the mattress put on the floor? Anyone know?

I don't know if it can be turned around but the mattress comes off.

We have been to disney with all three of our children when they where young. 6 mo, 26 mo, 16 mo. One thing to remember is that no matter what you do the first night will not be the best. Our little guys alway did not sleep that well the first night. Strange place and too much going on. So dont get discouraged at first. The pack and play should be fine. Get it right next to the bed. You will hear anything going on. I probably would put the little guy between you to start and then move him into the pack and play. Also if he is more attached to you, you should be on the side of the bed by the pack and play. Note he will be pretty tired from all the days activites so if you can get him to sleep he probably will be fine. Good luck.

Note we where always amazed how much fun our kids had even at such a young age. Some people say why go with such a young child they wont remeber. Well we where there in oct and my son was 16 months. We got the photos out this past weekend and he was talking and going on and on, I know he remembers. Have fun.

Cool -- thanks for the ideas. I'm so excited for my trip! I'm glad others have had positive experiences taking little ones to Disney!

We were at SSR in December, and my girls used the pack and plays with no problems. We had requested "cribs" and they were a complete joke. Very flimsy, shaky metal things. IMHO, they would've worked very well for a newborn that doesn't move! My girls sleep in cribs at home, and went right into the pack and plays at the end of the day. Now, the first night, they ended up sleeping with me in the King bed, but after that, they were just so tired it was right into the pack and plays and done with it.

Have fun!
