Hello everyone! First time poster here. :)

We're taking our son to WDW for the first time in October. Yay! He'll be almost 2 1/2 at that point, and he's already 36" and 32lbs. He's still in a crib now, and travel crib when we go away, but I think he'll outgrow the pack n play by then. I noticed that a couple of the resorts have fold-out daybeds, but how do I keep him in? Can you rent rails or large cribs?

Thank you for your help! I'm excited to be here.

I've used the pool noodle under the sheets trick, or rolled towels in a pinch.

If you're staying in a room with 2 double beds just ask Mousekeeping to install bed rail when you get there. We have a 2.5 year old and we'll be there next week, so that's my first order of business when we arrive!

We use to always request 2 bedrails once we checked in and have always gotten them.

Wow, so apparently there are bedrails at Disney, I had no idea.

I was coming to tell you that my local Dollar Tree sells inflatable pool noodles, which are small and easy to pack, and they do work if the sheets fit properly.

You can request bed rails when you check in or call ahead and let them know they will be needed and they can add them to your reservation.

We used to slide the bed against the wall at night and then back in the morning. Kept the kids safe and on the bed without an issue.

I have a big 2 year old too. He still sleeps in the crib at home, so we rented a full size crib from a Baby's Best Friend. They delivered the crib right to our resort, it was super easy. We're actually going back next week and renting the crib for him again. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the tips! I didn't even think about pushing the bed up to the wall.

I'll look into crib rentals too. I don't think we'll be staying in a room with double beds. The husband is 6'2" and that probably won't be too relaxing for him!

A lot of the beds now sit on a platform and will not move.

Maybe it is because my kids didn't use cribs, but at 2.5, I just had them sleep on the bed. I didn't use anything to prop/hold them in. They crashed so hard at WDW, anyway, that they barely moved at night :rotfl2:

Yes, this! We've stayed at ASMo, Pop, and AoA and none of those beds were movable. Our youngest DD is a very restless sleeper -- no one ever wants to share a bed with her because she doesn't lay still for more than 5 minutes at a time. When she was younger, I always requested 2 bed rails at check in and they were usually in the room by the time we walked up there. I found the bed rails at Disney to be sturdier and longer than the travel bed rails we had.

Before you go make sure he doesn't want to use the pack and play. On her first trip after moving to a toddler bed, my three year old panicked at the thought of sleeping in a big bed she wasn't used to. She is very tall but just curled up in the pack and play.

Just got back from a trip with my large 2.5 year old. She's in a crib at home but did fine in the bed. We put a few towels under the sheets on either side, but I don't think she really needed it.

We actually transitioned our very tall daughter out of her crib and into a twin right around her second birthday. Then about 4 months later took her to disney and she slept in the little daybed at Boardwalk Inn. She loved the little daybed and we did not use rails, but I know that might not work for everyone. It was helpful to her that the bed was against the wall on one side like hers at home and then she thought it was this cool little personal sized bed just for her.

Hope you find something that works!

My son slept in a pack and play at three years old when we visited Hershey Park. We weren't planning on it but he wanted to use it. So we borrowed a second one from the hotel so both kids could have a pack and play to sleep in for the night. He was already sleeping in a regular bed at home.

One Step Ahead also makes a great inflatable mattress for little kids. It rolls up pretty small and comes with an electric pump. We will probably bring it for our almost-3-year-old when we go because no one wants to share a bed with her. ;-) There's no way she'd sleep in a pack n play. She'd be bumping into the sides all night. In case she does end up in a bed, I'm happy to know that all the Disney resorts have bedrails available.

We have this and it is great! My kids use it for travel from 2-4ish.

I traveled internationally around that stage and took a "The Shrunks Indoor Travel Bed" with me. I like them better than other brands because it has raised sides (sort of like crib bumpers) and you can tuck your own sheets in it. When deflated in its travel bag it fits in a carry on.
He loves his little bed, we have used it several times since then
I recommend you try it at home first if you are going to go this route, some kids roll out of this things.

My 2 year olds could climb in and out of pack and plays at 2 years 3 months old...they aren't tall.

With our older son, we did bed rail on one side and me on the other side (we went over his 3rd birthday).

I wouldn't spend money on an outside crib rental which takes up space in an already small room.

A lot of the resorts have full size cribs as options. We had one at WL and BLT. You have to ask specifically for a full size crib, and they are subject to availability.
