We are taking our girls, ages 7 & 4 to WDW this Sept/October and my youngest is OBSESSED with Sleeping Beauty!!! She doesn't know the story, hasn't watched the movie, I think it's because she's the Princess that wears pink, her favorite color, this is the only logical conclusion that I've come to.

Anyway, I've put quite a bit a research into where we would be able to have a meal that Sleeping Beauty would be at and have decided on The Princess Storybook Breakfast at Epcot.....Here is where my confusion comes in, she is not guaranteed to be there......Does anyone know how they decide on what Princess' are there one day versus the next? Would I know within a certain time frame if she would be there or not, or is it a complete crap shoot? Also, what is all of this I'm reading about her wearing a blue dress sometimes? :confused3 I just do not want to get there and have no Sleeping Beauty and all of a sudden have a complete mental breakdown from my 4 yr old!

I'm thinking that I will make the ADR regardless, just wondering if anyone had any tidbits of advice......I suppose I have quite a while to prep DD that she might not be there, or if she is she may be wearing her blue dress because Princess's have to do laundry too!!!! :thumbsup2

Also, have to say that I've been reading a lot of the posts and threads, don't want to ask something that has already been covered numerous times, and I've already learned SOOOO much from you guys!!!! This board rocks!!! :cool1:

Thanks!

From our experience she has always been at Restaurant Akershus when we've gone there for breakfast. They never "guarantee" who's going to be there so there's always that remote possibility (of her not being there). I can tell you CRT's has gotten quite expensive with this new photo pkg thing ($22.99 for a child!! NUTS!!) and there's more of a chance of her not being there. I don't love Restaurant Akershus either but that's the better of the 2 for seeing Aurora.

Keep in mind that Aurora makes appearances in France different times of the day (looks like anywhere between 12:30-6:00-I know that's a large time frame but they may be able to tell you more details in France or just try to hit it at 12:30). Check Steve Soares site the week before you leave as he sometimes has the times down when she is out in the "side" courtyard area in France signing autographs and posing for photos. She also makes appearances in MK in Toontown in the Big Tent where there are usually 3 sets of Disney characters (Princesses, Pooh & Friends & Classic characters). She usually is there with the princesses, Snow White and Cinderella, although sometimes they change princesses, most of the time she's been there as well.

Lately she's been dressed in pink. It has actually been a few years since we've seen her in her blue dress. I guess that's what's "in" right now :teeth:

I'm sure you'll see her in one of those places other than the restaurants. We stopped doing the restaurants because it just wasn't worth it. Just keep in mind if you choose to do ADR's, you must put Restaurant Akershus on a 48 hr credit card hold (if you cancel within 48 hrs of your ADR, you will be charged on your credit card) and CRT's requires FULL payment now at the time of making the ADR.

Ok, don't take this the wrong way, but I totally Love you!!!!! :love1: This was the one thing that was stressing me out, and you've made me feel much better! :cloud9: I knew that she was usually around in ToonTown, but did not know about France, great info! I will definitely be checking out the site you gave!

Thanks so much!

Amanda

There is also the Disney Girl Princess Tea at the Grand Floridian which is specifically Princess Aurora. It is expensive, but I hear it is a great experience, and am planning on taking my daughter in October. She will be 7 and this may very well be the last time she will enjoy something like this and I am taking advantage of it!

You can also check at Guest Relations in the park and they can usually tell you when and where you can find specific characters. We have eaten at PSB twice (DD#2 loves Sleeping Beauty, too) and she has been there both times in her pink dress. We did find her in her blue dress once as we were leaving Epcot through the International Gateway.

I saw Aurora at CRT (at lunch, but not at breakfast,) and at Akershus. As well as in Toontown, and France.

I would tell your daughter that Aurora *might* be at this breakfast (or don't even mention it all), so she won't have a breakdown if she's not there.

You can also ask the people at the centralized wait time boards if they know where Aurora is that day. They can track her down that way. Over the course of a trip, I'm sure you'll see Aurora several times.

Aurora is DD8's favorite too. We've been to wdw the last 2 years, and saw Aurora at PSB breakfast & dinner, and CRT breakfast & lunch. We also saw her at MVMCP with Prince Phillip - which thrilled DD. We splurged on the Disney Girl tea too, thinking that our first trip was supposed to be our "only" trip & this would be the only way to guarantee that DD(6 at the time) would get to see Aurora. DD had a wonderful time & still talks about it, so I don't regret doing it. BUT, the best interaction we had was in France, like jwfla422 mentioned, but she was out by the water that day instead of in the courtyard. (All of the characters were right out front in the pavillions that day, instead of tucked away in the back like they usually are.) Even though Aurora was out in the open, there wasn't anyone with her, and she spent quite a while chatting with DD. princess:

mommystieg, was this more than 2 years ago? DD prefers Aurora in the blue, and she started wearing the pink just a few months before our first trip.

Thank you so much for all you replies! I know that DD4 will be thrilled to meet her!! I've even gotten her a Sleeping Beauty gift to sneak into our room the day that we meet her, a kinda of "It was so nice to meet you" gift from Sleeping Beauty :thumbsup2

I as looking into the My Girls Princess Tea Party at the GF, but didn't know if it was worth it for the price?? Me being the tightwad (I'll admit it :teeth: ) of the family, I'm really trying to not determine things based on price, but more so experience, but this was is hard!!! :confused3

It was a hard decision for us too. We are definitely bargain hunters, and pricewise this wasn't a bargain. But I am glad we did it. It was the highlight of the trip for DD.

When my DD was 2 we saw her at the beginning of the International Gateway in Epcot, and she was in her pink dress. The best part was that my DD was asleep and Sleeping Beauty asked if she could hold her. My DH said sure and handed her to her. Sleeping Beauty then told her in a soft voice not to worry because she slept through most of her movie. It is a precious picture!

I think you have an extremely great chance of seeing her at the PSB at Akershus! We did this last October and she was there. Whenever I've read trip reports that included this breakfast, Sleeping Beauty has pretty much always been mentioned. I think they do normally keep one princess off to the side in a special little room to sign autographs instead of making the rounds at the tables...and I know it varies as far as which princess it is. When were there, it was Aurora who was doing this, in the little alcove right behind our table. In other pictures and trip reports I know she's been making rounds and someone different was there for a meet and greet. Either way, I think chances are you'll see her! Have a wonderful time!

I don't have much to offer along the lines of where to meet Sleeping Beauty as others have already covered all the places I knew about plus EPCOT which I didn't know. I do have an idea that might help in dealing with the pink vs. blue dress. If you can find a copy of the movie and show it to her, that should help prepare her if you should meet Aurora in her blue dress. If she knows that Aurora also has a blue dress, that should help excite her no matter when she sees Aurora, especially since she's so different from Cinderella and Belle, who may also show up in a blue dress.

She was definitely there when we ate at CRT. However, one time we were walking by the International Gateway in Epcot and she was randomly standing there all alone! :confused3 So that was a good way to get her picture. Man was she tall though! LoL.

:offtopic: As a Sleeping Beauty geek, I'm glad they chose a tall girl to play her. The vertical lines that featured so prominently in the design of that film make Aurora appear taller than the other Princesses.

Aurora is my girl and I also think you should show your daughter the movie. Aurora is scheduled to be at all three meals at Akershus but you should never count on anything because things can change all the way up to the minute you get there to eat. Princesses are people too and anything can happen to where they may need to leave or may not be in the restaurant. Best not to tell your DD so she is not disappointed but rather pleasantly surprised.
If you don't see her there, try France or Toontown as previous posters suggested. Good luck and tell your daughter that Aurora actually has 3 names and what they are!! The more she knows about the character, the more special the interaction will be. Trust me.

That's a great point. From what I've read on character interaction, the more you know about a character and their movie, the more they can interact. And believe me, the CMs study the movies of the characters they play. While watching Disneyland's Parade of Dreams, the girl playing Merryweather did that little shake that Merryweather does when she's really determined to do something in the film. It just added to the feel of that parade.

we were at Epcot Akershus breakfast in January. We did not have Aurora but we did have Belle, Cinderella (yes at Akerhus), Mary Poppins, Jasmine and Snow White. At toontown we saw Cinderella, Snow White and Belle. The only princess we didnt see the entire trip was Sleeping Beauty. Fortunately dd5 really didn't mind since she got to see Mulan and Mushi. The princess line in toontown always includes Snow White and Cinderella but the 3rd princess rotates.
