Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough Closure

We will be at Disneyland in early February. I just checked the calendar, and it shows Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough and Enchanted Chamber (shop in the castle) under refurbishment starting January 17. Do these ever go under refurbishment without the rest of the castle going behind scrims? I'm a bit concerned.

I noticed that in the Mickey's Mix Magic description, Disney was careful in their wording. It says that the projections will be on Main St, the Rivers of America, and Small World. It doesn't mention projections on the castle.

Any thoughts?

I don't see why they would have to put the castle under scrims to refurbish the walk-through. Then again, they could be doing some refurb on the castle and that requires closure to all of it, though I haven't seen anything about that.

I feel like we knew in advance the last time the castle was behind scrim.... For refurb on the walk-through, they would likely just close the door. There's no wide opening to cover, and it's not visible from outside the castle (apart from the doors, of course).

As far as projections on MS vs the castle, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't project on the castle on non-fireworks nights. Staring at the castle and not seeing any fireworks could seriously upset people who don't research expectations before a visit. But, they may still project on the castle.... Really, neither would surprise me. I'm not much help.

I agree that we would probably know by now if they were going to cover the whole castle. I just got nervous when I saw any type of castle refurbishments (even inside of the castle).

I think I read somewhere that Disney had applied for a permit to work on the castle's roof -- perhaps that is related to the closure.

I made a BBB booking this morning for Feb 20th and was told to go into the Enchanted Chambers so O assume it will be open then.

Well, I just looked on the Disneyland App at Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough, and sure enough, at the bottom of the description, it says: From January 17, 2019 through spring 2019, Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthough will be closed for refurbishment. From January 7 through spring, the exterior of Sleeping Beauty Castle will also undergo refurbishment.

Darn it.

Looks like they will finally be fixing the problems the special roof/turrets for the 60th created when they removed it.

Dang it. I mean, not the end of the world--I've got lots of castle pictures--but dang it anyway. Wonder what they will do with the scrim this time. Last time was am artist rendering of the castle before it was built.

Bummer! When we're there at the end of Feb we'll have people with us who have never been, so they will miss the awe of seeing the castle from Main St. Not the end of the world, but definitely not ideal.

Shucks! but there will be plenty of other stuff I guess. Makes those cheap tickets even sweeter.

What does this mean for the Mickey Mix Magic show? No castle projections?

I'm bummed to see this refurb. I've been hit by it once before on the last big refurb... before the 60th?

We are going then too and slowly getting annoyed. Though we couldn't win no matter when we went. Our choices were end of feb, june or sometime sept-dec. I refused to go once star wars land opened (I live in FL will get to deal with that chaos over here), wanted to avoid spring break travel in general especially since we are going to aulani after.

Nooooo! This is so disappointing. My 2 younger kids have never been, my oldest was only 3. Guess there will be no castle pics for us. :(

Unfortunately, I think this is pretty much in line with what many have been predicting - they’re going to be doing a LOT of refurbishment in anticipation of SW opening. I think it’s going to be an unprecedented amount of work happening in the parks.

We went to WDW over the summer. My daughter had gone to BBB and was all dressed up as Belle in our pics in front of the castle. We are all smiling in the pics except her. She looks annoyed and angry in all of them because it was "too hot." I was hoping to get some where we are all smiling in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, and hopefully the lil' diva would look happier since we are going in January this time. Guess that won't be happening.

Yup. It was like this 4 years ago in the lead up to the start of the 60th with lots of walls.

It'll be a bummer, but it definitely won't ruin our trip, that's for sure.

I'm so thrilled that the DLRR is open again, that'll make up for no real castle view!

Wow. That's a real letdown. We are going in April for the first and maybe last time.
