Sleeping arrangements - need advice

It will be me, DH, and DS (3). DS sleeps in a twin bed right now that has sides on both sides.. When we travel he sleeps on one of these:

He does really well sleeping on that, however to take that with us to WDW would be a pain since we are flying. It's a little bulky and around 12lbs.

What do you guys do? We are at WL with 2 queen beds.. should we ask for a roll-away bed? Or just bring the AeroBed?

Is there any particular reason that your DS can't sleep in a queen size bed? Just ask mousekeeping for a few bedrails, so he doesn't accidentally fall off the bed.

I'm assuming that you & DH will be sharing one of the beds..... maybe I shouldn't be assuming things.....

This might sound kind of silly, but have you considered looking for a pool air mattress?

You could even use more than one if you wanted and they take up practically no space in luggage and do not require an air pump.

I would just put him in the queen bed. You can ask for bed rails to put on the sides. If they don't have any available, just put some pillows or rolled up blankets on either side of him for added security. A queen is a lot wider than a twin. Even if he rolls around, he shouldn't fall out.

Well, DH & I did consider splitting up - he is 6'8" and we don't sleep well together in a queen (thankfully we have a king at home!) But it's not impossible

I didn't realize we could request rails for the bed though - that changes things a little!!

Would a roll-away bed have rails too if we wanted to go that route?

As far as I know, Disney resorts don't do roll away beds. They just don't have them. Also the rooms at WL aren't so large that one would fit easily.

AS long as you & DH are good w/ sharing a queen bed, just get the bedrails for your son & all's well!

HAHA. DH and I never sleep together on vacation. My DH is 6'5" and I'm 5"10 and queens are just too close for comfort. I always just crash with DD and it works out well for everyone. But yes, WL does have bedrails and I used them for DD on a girls only trip when we both got a bed to ourselves

I would plan on sleeping in the same bed with DS and get a bed rail for his side.

We have a king at home and to sleep in a queen (or worse a double) together would be no vacation. This is why I'm *asking* my DMom to sleep in the room with the doubles and we'll take the room with the (requested) king!

We travel a lot and this thing is fantastic.

Weighs under 7 lbs, folds up into a little carry bag, is easily inflated by mouth in a few minutes.

Our daughter loves it, and it's especially good in hotels because it closes, so she can go to sleep before us and we can stay up and watch tv quietly or read, check emails etc...

We just either have DS in the other bed or we split up and take turns sleeping with him.

I am surprised at 3 he still needs bedrails. We haven't used them in well over a year with DS (he is 3 too). At Disney he is so wiped out that he barely budges.

I guess I'm not sure if he does need bed rails.. but the bed he's in has sides (they are screwed on to the bed, so we have never taken them off..) He does move around quite a bit.

I guess we will just go down and see how it goes! Or suck it up and bring the aero-bed.

You can use two bed rails on the beds. Put one on each side. Work like a charm for us. First couple of night I was concerned about the end of the bed (no rail), not so much for my 3 yo but my 1 (almost 2) yo. He wasn't in a toddler bed yet but hates pack and plays. So I also asked mousekeeping for extra pillow at put that on the floor at the endof the bed "just in case" In the end never needed them. Honestly i think you will be fine w/ the bed rails. Just call and request them on your reservations

Disney Resorts do have roll away beds. We got one for DS10 on our trip this past Thanksgiving at POP. DS needs to have his own space. It worked out nicely, we each had our own bed. It was a tight fit at POP, but we managed just fine. The roll away bed is lower to the ground than the regular beds, so I'm sure your DS would be just fine. It is an extra charge, I can't remember for sure, but I think it was like $15 per night.
