When we travel we try and book a suite or a 1 bedroom villa so we can still be awake and enjoy our evening when our son goes to sleep. While this option is nice, it does tend to get pricey. What do others do in this situation when you stay in a standard hotel room?
Edited to add that we are currently booked to stay in a 1 bedroom villa at Old Key West, but would prefer to stay either at a Magic Kingdom or Epcot resort. The cost of 1 bedroom villas at these resorts are so much more expensive, so debating keeping OKW or doing a standard hotel room.

Good idea. Can always read a book on the balcony (something I have not done with a toddler lol!)

Our balcony did not have a light I could read by
We book Villas or FW Cabins for the separate sleeping space and living spaces. It is worth it to us to put the kids to bed and have a place to relax as adults

We stayed at a Poly Studio last year and used the second bathroom as his sleeping quarters. He was in a pack and play and it fit great! This year we have outgrown the PnP, so I'm still not sure what we're going to do.

Not a villa, but we like staying Club Level for the extra "room" the lounge provides while folks are sleeeping. It's not a perfect solution as one of us still needs to be in the room with the kiddos, but it's at least another place for one of us to be if needed. It's been a great setup for the way we travel.

That's a big part of why we booked club level for our upcoming trip. We will take turns hitting the lounge at night.

We do the same thing. Also first thing in the AM, I can scoot out to the lounge very early and catch up on work for a bit without bothering anyone.

We will also take turns during afternoon nap time if needed.

Makes it more enjoyable for the adults to be honest! :-)

I have sometimes wished that WDW would put a curtain between the sofa bed and bed area in the studios. (like they have on cruise ships). That way you could have the sofa as well as the balcony/patio if you have a child in the trundle OR you could have the bedroom area if your child(ren) is/are on the pull out sofa.

Meanwhile, enjoying the balcony and/or taking turns at the lounge is probably how most people manage.

Maybe a portable toddler bed? Amazon has some cute ones.

Our DD did not like us out on the balcony as she felt too alone. Have you looked into renting points or AOA suites?

Ft. Wilderness cabin would give you a great location. It's close to magic kingdom and offers the boat as an option to get there. It would give you a seperation and some outdoor space. But, I agree with other posters that our toddlers were always beat at the end of the day and it usually wasn't an issue. Good luck deciding and have a great trip!

In our experience, once we get back to the room, our toddlers fell fast asleep. But we are up by 6, kids 6:30 and out the door by 7-7:15, return for break/nap and then back til 10-11 and my kids have always fell asleep as soon as their head hits the pillow even with the atavistic and lights on.

Our first trip with our oldest, she napped and DH and I sat on the lanai/balcony and took turns leaving for drinks, laundry, a walk, etc...

We also take a few non park days to catch up on sleep.

We always stay in one room when traveling. Our kids are so tired they go right to sleep. Some nights, my DH and I were so tired that we went right to bed too. I also bring my tablet and headphones and watch shows on Netflix or Hulu.

Ah I did not realize there is a second bathroom in the Poly studios. He should be still ok in a PnP when we go so will have to look into this option.

Our children were always so tired from all the walking and activity that they went to sleep immediately and it did not matter what we did. We watched TV, came and went from the room(one at a time), etc. and it never bothered them.

Thats awesome! I wonder if we will be able to wear our kid out. Maybe with a sound machine and being tired he will sleep well.

That's a great option. I'll look into this as well. Thanks for the idea.

I've always wondered why they don't do that. It would make it so much easier for those who want to sleep and those who are still awake.

The trip is fairly soon and is a last minute trip, so unfortunately have missed out on DVC availability. Have thought about AOA, but we really do prefer the amenities of the Deluxe resorts.

Our little guy is an early riser, so I am sure we will be out and about early. It seems like the balcony is the most popular choice for those with little kids.
