Sleeping Arrangements for DS23mos.

Need some suggestions....we will be staying at GF with DS23mos. in December...At home, he sleeps in a crib and at daycare he sleeps on a cot that is about two inches off the floor...He will not sleep in his pack and play...I have been considering everything from a sleeping bag to an air mattress...I have also considered purchasing a child's tent...Any tips or suggestions????

We put our daughter in a portable collapsable play pen."happy camper"
We drove and brought our own from home but the resorts have them to use.
Not sure if they charge or not also they can supply a bed rail if yu want the child in bed with you!

We have used an air mattress in the past, and it worked out well, we just propped up against the wall when he wasnt using it to get it out of the way.

Actually we will be staying at POR in December with our dd who turns 2 a week prior to leaving. I was not sure about the pack and play bit figuring we lose walking space and there will 6 people in our room . my 11 and 5 yearold will share a bed ( they don't fall out of bed like the 8 year old does)
the 8 year old is going to sleep on the trundle bed for safety. the 2 year old is going to sleep in a blow up sleeping bag it has a airmattress in it. I picked it up for like 20$ at Kmart.
i thought about letting her "practice" sleeping someplace besides the her bed/crib what ever, so its a easier transition.
Eventually your son will adjust to a new arrangment , you just need to maybe pracitce it at home a bit.

Why aren't you getting a full size crib? They offer them at all resorts (though they will say they can't guarantee it being available). Bring your own sheet if you think it will help. We usually push the crib into the closet of our 1BR at SSR. We have done this with both kids and it works just fine.

We are staying at POR the week ds turns 2yo and are hoping to get an AB room w/ a trundle. We will have ds sleep on the trundle.

If we weren't doing a trundle at POR I would opt for a blow up sleeping bag.

I definitely wouldn't use a crib, dd's crib at home is only used because one side is removed and it is pushed up against our bed. I'm not thinking that WDW's cribs are that flexible in their use!

My kids sleep in the big bed when we travel. Both sleep alone at home in their own beds but when we travel we get 2 doubles/queens and one of the sleeps with me and one with dh. Once ds get a little older we will likely put them in a bed together. My kids never slept well in the pack and play. They did just fine (well, evenutally just fine) in bed with one of us.

My DS was 20 months old when we were there in May. He has "sleep issues" at home, so I knew it would be a problem there. My oldest slept with DH and the youngest went to sleep with me. After he was asleep I put him in the pack and play. I envy people who have children who will sleep anywhere. Mine wouldn't sleep in a stroller either, no matter how tired he was.

If all else fails, ask for bedrails and let him sleep with you.

They offer bed rails if you want to just put him in the regular bed, or maybe on the day bed, which is a bit lower to the ground just in case. I imagine the bedrails would work on that as well.

Ishould get bed rails when we go for my dd8 who fall out of bed all the time

Thanks for the great suggestions...we have been fortunate that DS is a great sleeper (7:30 p.m. to at 6:00 a.m. since around 3 mos)...on a prior non-WDW trip we tried to have him sleep in our bed (which was an air mattress), but he had difficulty going to sleep as he was distracted and wanted to play...he also woke up several times during the night and was fascinated that his mom and dad were in "his" bed...we are hoping that the fact we are sleeping in the same room will not pose any difficulties...that was one of the reasons I was considering a tent...Thanks again!

He will be so tired he will not care at the end of the day were he is sleeping I bet. it does stink going to bed early but on the other hand your just as tired anyhow!

We went last year right after DS turned two. He slept in a regular bed and we used the resort-supplied bed rails. He had NO problems sleeping in the bed (and he was still in a crib at home). He was too tired to even think twice about it.

Our DS3 (then 2) used the bed rails at WDW in May and did great. This summer we were at a cabin and again DS used bed rails and our nosy 9mo DD was in the pack and play but she wanted to play all night long! The next day we got a pop up tent and put it over the pack and play... it worked so well. So well even my DS3 (who hates the crib) wanted to sleep in the "clubhouse".

Another tip... either bring a sound machine or leave the bathroom fan on. Our kids are not use to hearing each other move around in their beds. She would roll in the pack and play and he would sit up to make sure she wasn't getting up to play without him!

I would try the bedrails. I wouldn't think a pack n play would be very comfortable or even big enough for a 2 year old to sleep in.

Do the bedrails work for the daybeds at the Poly? We're staying there in Feb., and our youngest will be 22 months at that time. Our 2 oldest (6 and 5) will be sharing one of the beds.
