Sleep Sofa Question

Since only OKW has two beds in a studio, would I be correct in saying that if you have more than 2 in your group and are staying in anything besides a 2 bedroom in any other resort, someone is probably sleeping on a pullout sofa bed?

Just how (un)comfortable are these sofa beds, and does anyone have a problem sleeping on them?

We don't own DVC yet (we're considering it though), the resort we own at has two beds in the studio and two pull down murphy beds in the living room. All of which are very comfortable. The last sofa sleeper I have slept on was terrible, you could feel the frame and springs through the mattress (that's why I ask)

My family including adults have never complained about the sofabed.

I have never slept on the sofa beds at the other resorts, but I just did in September at SSR. The bed was great. My husband and I decided we wouldn't mind asking anyone to sleep on the sofa beds at this resort. Can't say about the others, but I think they are trying to update all the sofa beds to be like the ones at SSR.

The BWV sofa bed we slept on two weeks ago was terrible. That said, I have heard some are comfortable. But, we sure didn't have a comfortable one. I think a pallet on the floor would have felt better.

We just returned from a stay at the WLV. Our daughter, who is an adult, slept on the couch and said that it was just fine. She didn't feel any bars or frames while layinag on the bed.

When we travel to WDW we are there for awhile and my teenage daughter complains about her back after a few nights on the sofa (beds) at both the BDV & BWV. This past July we had housekeeping change out the sofa bed in the livingroom (we had a 2 bed room) the bed would not open all the way and my dad was sleeping on it. We noticed this after a long day at the parks so I suggest that you check the beds as soon as you get in the room... They did fix it with in a half hour BUT when your tired it can seem like forever. I do believe this is a problem they are trying to work on. Let's face it they get alot of use. :rotfl2:

It really depends. If it is the "old style" sofa bed with the bars across the back, it won't be too comfortable. If it is the new style, where the front of the sofa pulls out and you sleep on basically a solid surface with pads, it is pretty comfy.

My DD - a young adult - complains about the sofa beds at BWV - but she sleeps on the couch without pulling it out and says it is very comfy.

We just got back, from VWL---four in our party, the teens got the sleeper sofa, never complained once---and believe me, if it had slept badly, we probably would've heard about it! Good Luck!

how much more would it of cost disney to get a bed instead of a sleeper sofa? not much

Probably less, those new sleeper sofas are very expensive. But...the bed/sofa configuration is by far the more popular, that is why they stuck with it. I would guess that the majority of owners using studios are couples, and prefer the extra floor space with the couch rather than a bed. For us, though, since it is usually Mom & I, we certainly prefer the two real beds at OKW.

The new style rollaway couch beds are much more comfortable - I know they have rolled these out at OKW - not sure about the other resorts

I have sleep on them at BWV with no problem. :Pinkbounc

I also have slept on the sofabed in a studio part and on the sofabed in the livingroom of a 1 bedrm/2 bedrm. I have had no problem. We just returned from a visit to Door County, WI (leaf-peeping) and I slept on a sofabed that was awful, so I do know the difference.
Just for the record, some of the DVCs have dedicated 2 bedroom units which have 2 beds in the studio part. You can ask when booking. (BWV does NOT have any dedicated 2 bedrooms.)

Are the newer style sofa beds in ALL OKW units or are they still being phased in?
