Sleep Number Beds....

I never had one but my friend did and she loved it.

I remember her telling me how much she paid for it and I was like .. not sure if they went down in price because this was a couple years ago.

I only ever slept on one while staying at a Radisson. I found it very uncomfortable. It just seemed like a blow up bed that you could control the amount of air inside it.

Maybe I'm missing something. Maybe Radisson uses cheap ones, but that was my experience.

I love mine. I have had it for a couple of years now. You can change it to suit the needs you have based on your sleep needs and firm it up or soften it. However you feel that night. I have the 8000.

I also used the one at the Radisson...I didn't like it. It reminded me of an air mattress.

we have one and DH and I both love it! It's not like an air mattress at all...it has chambers that are filled with air, but the chambers are surrounded by foam and other material so it feels like a regular mattress. You can adjust the chambers to your needs. I have a problematic back and this is the only mattress that I can live with. It does take some time to find what number works though....it took me about 3 weeks to find the right setting for me.

Love, Love, Love mine. It's light... easy to move... and lasts a long time. My aunt and uncle have had theirs for 20 years... still sleeps like new.

However if something fails (i.e. the pump or an air chamber) they replace w/in warranty or replace at a prorated rate dependent on how old the mattress is.

When I bought mine, I compared prices against other "good" mattresses and found them to be comparable over time.

You might look on their site and see if there is a store in your area. You can try one out!

My parents (divorced) both have them, as does my DB, and all LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them. DF's recently developed one tiny spot of mold, and they sent him almost a total replacement for the "guts", and this is on a ten year old model! They really stand behind their product.

I'm saving my pennies, and this will be the next bed we get. Because DH and I are both pooh-sized, we are going to get a king sized rather than our current queen sized, however, because when sleeping on my mom's queen sized one, our numbers are so different, I feel as though he will roll over and down onto me!

We've had one for 4-5 years and like it a lot. DW bought it and I know it ws expensive but not sure exactly how much. :)

We got one about 6 months ago and really like it -- we got one that the head and feet go up and down too. More money, but nice when watching tv or reading in bed.

I've had mine for a couple years, and I love it! I'm currently out of town visiting family, and I miss my Sleep Number bed!

We bought our Sleep Number Bed about 5 years ago, and we really love it! It's the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. Down the road when we're "older" I'd like to get the SNB that raises up. (Like a hospital bed!)

The downfall is going on vacations and having to sleeping on regular beds!

We also love our sleep number bed, especially the fact that we can each adjust our own side. I like mine firmer than DH so my number is 85 and his is 65. It does take a few weeks to determine your ideal number. I've never understood why Radisson has those beds. Unless you already have one, you won't find your sleep number in just a few nights and you'll probably be very uncomfortable during your stay.

We've had ours for nearly 5 years and we LOVE it!!!!! In fact when we travel, we often comment on how much we miss our Sleep Number (even while at WDW...shhhhh). I had major back surgery in '05 and sleeping on a spring mattress became very uncomfortable for me and foam mattresses didn't offer enough support. We went to the Sleep Number store on 3 different occasions to try the mattress before we bought it. We went on a day when my back was feeling good, a day when it was feeling bad and an in-between day. I also tried spring & foam mattresses on those same days. The Sleep Number felt great to me on all 3 days so that was the deciding factor for us. Once we got it home and figured out our #'s, it turned out that I like a softer mattress while DH likes a very firm mattress. The Sleep Number makes for a great compromise! DH plays alot of sports and there are times when he's sore after a game and having the ability to adjust the firmness of the mattress is a great plus!

At the time we purchased Consumer Reports had done a study on mattresses and said that you should lay on a mattress for at least 15 mins to get a good feel for it. Yes, you feel strange laying there for so long, but it really does give you a good idea of how the mattress really feels.

I highly recommend the bed :thumbsup2

Both DD and I have them. We have only one complaint. There is a dip in the center of the bed where the two air bladders meet. I've heard that it isn't a problem when two people are sleeping in the bed because each person tends to stay on their side of the bed. DD and I each have queen beds and we are the only ones who sleep in our beds. I move from one side to the other during the night. I always notice the dip.

We got one 3 years ago. I would have to put it in my top 10 of best purchases ever!!!

Now I do think it depends on which one you get. The ones at the Radisson I believe are the lowest level you can get. The ranking they have goes by numbers 1000, 4000,5000 etc. I would not get under a 5000. I noticed a big difference. Check Mattress Firm for specials as we got the 9000 for just a little more than the price of the 5000.

We both had back problems and saw a huge difference when we got the bed. Now of course that could have been because there was no longer a coil stuck in the side of my back every morning I woke up. LOL

Ours feels more like a bump to me but a dip to Dh since my # is usually set on 25 or 30 and DH is on 60. :upsidedow

My only complaint would be that if you are someone who likes to sleep on the edge of the bed and on your side and you like a very soft mattress (25 or less), you may have issues. The edge is foam so you end up sleeping with your knees elevated higher than your bum since your knees will rest on the foam while you bum will rest on the air bladder which will be lower than the foam because of the low # setting.

I used one in a Crowne Plaza on a business trip. When I first there, it was on 100, too hard. I played with it and settled on 40. The funny thing is I returned to the hotel a week later, they gave me the same room and it was set on 0!
