We will be at WDW 12/21 - 12/27. We have been over this time before and completely understand the crowds. We have always done RD every morning and stay on property. Now that we have two teen sons, we are thinking of taking one morning and sleeping in and then staying later in the parks. However, I continue to second guess myself. Would appreciate your feedback. Here are two possible scenarios involving our MK visits and BOG dinner reservations. (And please don't comment on whether having BOG breakfast, lunch, and dinner is a waste. We are on free DDP and have eaten at a variety of places before but not BOG and want to give this a shot - even if it ends up not meeting our expectations)
Option One / Sleep in one day:
12/24 is another MK day. 7 AM RD. We will have late BOG breakfast and then a late BOG lunch. Leave the park mid-afternoon. FP all scheduled for late morning or early afternoon.
12/26 sleep in. Head to MK early afternoon leaving plenty of time to be at our first FP scheduled for 4 PM followed by BOG dinner at 5:15. Wishes FP and an evening Jungle Cruise FP scheduled (so we can ride in the dark). Stay late and enjoy the evening in the park.
Option Two / Stick with rope drop:
12/24 stay at MK all day wrapping up the evening with a 9:15 PM BOG dinner. We would then drop the lunch this day. (We RD AK the next day)
12/26 7 AM RD and hit as many rides as we can. 11:15 BOG lunch. Head out of the parks after lunch if lines / crowds are too much. (All our fast passes for this day are currently late afternoon and evening so if we go this route, we will had to see what we can switch to earlier in the day. But not overly concerned as we have FP for our favorites at MK on other days or will hit at RD)
Right now I'm thinking of just having both plans in place and get a sense of the crowds on 12/21-12/23 and then adjust ADRs and FP at that point. But would love to have your thoughts on what you would do too. My biggest concern is the park reaching a level 4 and not being allowed in or getting in but the crowds just being too much to enjoy the park.
