Hello everyone. we are about to rake a really new trip to Disney for our family and I could use a little help. The first is hotels. I have been looking and found that Disney is offering a price that compares to off site. With this being said we are coming by air live way to far to drive so have to use Disney lyft or other mods of transportation. second is my daughter is 16 I cant decide which is better I have stayed at Disney before just not sure what off site offers more then Disney. Next is food with Lyft and Uber up and running is it worth the time and money to leave Disney for a couple hours to eat outside Disney. Not really sure of restaurant pricing outside Disney. I know I really don't want to spend $200.00 a meal for food I really don't enjoy. I know I have no since of trying new things well I am an old dog that really doesn't want to learn new tricks meat and potatoes for me no craze food lol. Hey well I can ramble on all night if you let me but I think I should just listen for a bit If you have some help would love to hear. Oh If I put this in the wrong spot Sorry tell me were to put it and I will move it.

Thanks Terry

If you book an on site resort, you get access to Disney transportation. No need for Lyft or Uber unless you go off site. Many off site hotels have some transit options, so I would research that so you get a better comparison.

I personally don't leave property for meals. It is just not worth the hassle to me to save a few bucks. Maybe check out some dining reviews to get a sense of Disney meal options. There's lots of variety.

Also, you can have some food delivered to your resort through Amazon Prime, Garden Grocer etc... you can order simple breakfast foods, bottled water etc... to cut down on your meal budget. It is so not worth the expensive of traveling off site to save a few dollars on a cheeseburger. Have fun.

Here are a few comments in response to a few of the things you mentioned:
  • Disney resorts include complimentary bus transportation to and from the airport in their price. They also include complimentary transportation throughout WDW.
  • Offsite hotels tend to provide more spacious & comfortable accommodations for the same amount of money as you would spend at a Disney resort. The downsides of offsite are less or no free transportation, no Disney theming, and in most cases, you have to make FastPasses later than onsite guests.
  • Disney food is usually mainstream American food, nothing exotic or gourmet. It's more expensive because of the convenience & theming of the restaurants, not because the food is more sophisticated or better than standard American food you could get elsewhere.

I've found that Disney Springs offers quite a few more reasonable options with decent food. B.B. Wolf Sausage, Polite Pig, Earl of Sandwich, Blaze Pizza, D-Luxe burger, etc.

We have some favorites off site, but we have a car. I hate paying twice as much for a Disney restaurant meal that is not half as good as what I get at home in New Orleans. I have access at home to great food all the time, so at Disney I just am looking for something that tastes okay without breaking the bank. I'm not looking for a gourmet experience. I have multiple superb restaurants within walking distance at home.

Have you thought of renting a DVC condo unit or an off site small condo unit instead of a hotel? This would give you the option of going back to your room for some meals which really cuts into the cost of eating on property. It gives you more room and you can have groceries delivered as mentioned above or one uber to the store rather than off site restaurant meals. http://www.dvcrequest.com/

As far as your daughter's preferences it depends. Is she a park person or a I'd rather be at the pool person? If so, any place that has a pool will probably work. If not, on site might be the way to go. There is a hotel forum on this page that may help you a bit as well.
