SLC Olympic pins - web site

Have you been as tantalized as I have, reading Jeff's reports from Salt Lake, and wanting to see the Olympic pins? I found the official SLC web site, with nice pictures of the official pins ( not the sponsor pins, though) but lots of the food and event pins if you want to see them. www.saltlake2002.com Hope it's OK to post the web site address.

Welcome to the world of Olympic pins!
I usually buy sets, but found this site on my own and ordered three of these pins.

FYI the spinning skater is on back order.

Another great place to see what pins are available from the Olympics is at www.pinfever.com. Mark Stewart is creating a book that will contain all the pins that were made for the Salt Lake City games. So far, it is a three volume set but may end up four or five. Like Disney pins, the price of Olympic pins are all over the map from $6 for common rack pins to $30 for three inch pins. That is just for pins released to the public. There are other pins that are limited to edition sizes of 50-200 given only to employees or customers. The costs of those are even higher.

Before leaving Salt Lake City, I ran across a continually updated list that told what the hot pins were at the Olympics. People eagerly awaited this list to be published that day so they could see what was trading well. The last version I saw had pins in the following order:

1. The original green Jell-o pin
2. Opening Ceremonies pins, the dreamcatcher and other Native American pins
3. Fry sauce, Morman muffin, other Jell-o, and other food pins
4. The bear claw, the 3.2 Beer pins (all varieties + root beer)
5. The Missionaries on Bikes pin
6. The Harley Davidson pin
7. Large spur and other western motif pins
8. Snowboarding pins

   I had no idea how big Olympic pins were until I went to these games. It was a very humbling experience.
