Slap me silly... He said yes!

I'm an OCD planner....I'm planning for our Jan.2017 vacation.

I guess I must be really OCD then because I'm planning my Oct 2015 trip, my Dec 2017 trip and my Nov 2019 trip. I think I enjoy the planning as much as I enjoy going.

I've planned oct 2015, sept 2016, cruise and WDW aug 2017, and xmas 2019. All set up in a spreadsheet to calcuate points and dates. All this and I haven't even closed on our contract yet!!

Congrats on converting your husband! Just wait until your first DVC vacation; he'll catch the fever and you won't stop at buying 2 point packages! It's inevitable... :)

Funny, I've done nearly the same thing. I thought I was a planner before, DVC has taken me to another level.

Yes this! I love planning my Disney vacation as much as I like going.
Just have to convince the hubby to let us go every 2 years instead of every 3.

I am still not 100% sure on buying DVC but I do know I love planning our vacations. (I don't see myself going anywhere else....I live near the beach already and don't want to go to Europe)

OP- I own OKW and AKV and they are great to own for point conserving...I also own BWV which is great for point conserving (and own HHI for warm weather beach trips). So, your choices are great ones. Right now would be a good time to buy as direct prices are about to go up (on Jan 6) and that may push up resale prices a little. I am a big fan of buying smaller contracts as they are easier to resell if needed and if you find you need to downsize you can (if you had 1 contract of 350 points but realized you only need 275...well nothing you can do as you cannot break up a contract...you could rent out the extra points). But I will remind you that each contract bought has closing costs so you might want to just buy one 100-125 point contract for now and see how it goes. Smaller contracts (25-80 points) also go for a higher price per point. Happy hunting!!!

Thanks all! I am still in the research phase. I have a trip coming up in Oct 2015 using my sisters points. I hope to purchase my own by the end of this year. I'd love to buy right now but I want to buy resale and I want to have 80% of the amount in the bank from my own Dvc saving, outside our household savings and banking accounts.
