Skysaver Delta Skymiles question

Does anyone know if there is a trick to finding skysaver tickets as opposed to skypoint tickets on Delta's website? Are there certain days of the week to search in, different airports or different times of the day?

I would like to use our miles for a trip to WDW during Thanksgiving time of this year. So far I have only been able to find skypoint rewards and they are double the points as skysaver reward tickets.

Thanks

Its going to be very difficult to use a skysaver award during this period. Thanksgiving is a very popular travel time, so the number of award seats is limited. Some suggestions;
Fly well before or after the holiday.
Try the Monday before Thanksgiving.
Try the return trip the Tuesday (or later) after Thanksgiving.
Don't bother trying the weekend days or the wednesday before thanksgiving, everybody wants to fly then.

Good luck.

I agree, this probably had to be booked last December to get a skysaver.

Jeff gave you some good ideas. I think the standard Wed - Sun ticket is hopeless. (I am surprised you can find it at all using reward tickets.)

Without knowing your airport I can't give many suggestions, but you might try flying into Melborne or Jacksonville.

Thank you both for the information. I have been able to find a skysaver ticket leaving on the 19th of December and coming home Jan 4th. They are not the perfect dates but I will continue to search. I hate that Delta makes you go through each day one at a time plus you have to search by time of day. I wish the search engine was better. I have about 6 airports I can fly out of within 100 miles- CVG, CMH, IND, DAY, LEX and SDF. I would have to fly into MCO since I would not have a car. That's a lot of searching!

Thanks again for the tips.

I would suggest you call and have the agent search for you. Much more effective. Plus they can also check the partner airlines (NW for example) which you cannot do on line.

I agree with Carol. There's a $10 charge for booking through a live person (vs the website), but I found it to be worth every cent. I'd wanted to fly from Boston to Los Angeles Saturday-Saturday last November, but there were no SkySaver seats. The agent found me a Friday-Thursday itinerary that worked.

I guess I will have to end up calling. Thanks again for the ideas. :goodvibes
