On our Fantasy cruise in June I have booked us on the St John Island Tour which says it will get us back to the ship at about 12.30 p.m.. We are also booked on the Skyride which has no fixed time, so the plan would be for us to have some lunch on board and then head over to the Skyride.

The Skyride seems fairly easy to get to from the ship so it seems feasible, but I am wondering if there is much of a line in the afternoon? I would like to do both but I don't want to it to be stressful experience so may cancel one if there is a chance we won't make it up there.

Does booking through Disney give any front of line benefits or anything? If not, I think I'll cancel through Disney and we can just walk over there after lunch and buy tickets if it seems we can comfortably get up there and back.

Any advice gratefully received, thanks in advance!

It's right across from the boat. Super easy. I would cancel through Disney and just buy tickets there if you decide to do it.

I imagine it's cheaper not trough Disney. Would agree to buy there. I didn't find it to be worth the $20+ per person it was. Nice views of the 5 ships in port, but otherwise paid to travel to shopping available anywhere else for free.

I agree with the above posts. I would play it by ear and see if you have time. I might however skip lunch on the ship and go right there upon returning to the ship, to save time.

We did this in December, going in the afternoon, and there was no line. There is no special benefit to DCL tickets, except not having to bring money the day of the ride. Price & line order is exactly the same via DCL or paying in person. It is an easy and pleasant walk from the ship. Great view of the island & I recommend it.

Agreed it's nothing particularly special but you do get some great views and DH took lots of pictures especially of our ship. Some beautiful plant life too and I did get a nice inexpensive necklace that I still quite like. No lineups, didn't take too long for the whole thing - we did go in the afternoon after a morning tour. Maybe a bit overpriced but I still enjoyed it. Heck, I'm on vacation so I'm OK with it.

We did it once years ago. Since then we have been to St. Thomas many, many times.

I guess I am cheap. For that price, I don't think it is worth going up just for a view and a few pictures. Maybe chalk it up to a one time thing if you have never done it before.

Thanks all for your responses and advice, much appreciated!

I think we will do the Skyride if we can, but I am going to cancel it through Disney and just get the tickets on the day should all work out as planned.

I agree with everyone to do it on your own. I find it odd that Disney has an excursion there because it's that easy to get to. They are known for the best drink (alcohol). It's called a bushwhacker. We get one on every trip up.

They mostly just pre-sell the ticket. Probably get a small cut of the cost. Which is undoubtedly why they do it.

Agree. Super easy. Walk over and buy tickets and get right on. When we went on a Sunday, absolutely NO lines at all. It is worth the experience for the beautiful view. You can spend as much or as little time as you like once you land at the top.
