I posted on the transportation board as well, but it might be more appropriate here. The new airline Skybus now flies into Burbank...has anyone flown Skybus yet or know any information about it? I am thrilled that the fares seem so reasonable but would like to know more of what the experience flying them is....any feedback would be appreciated!

I'm flying with them in early Dec (I was able to get the $10 fare both ways from Columbus). In planning the trip I think I'll use Amtrak for transportation - $25 r/t to Anaheim with AAA which is pretty good since I'm traveling solo. They have a train station at the Burbank airport which is where Skybus flies into, and the Anaheim station is fairly close the DLR area. The local bus lines have a route from the station to the resort and it's surrounding hotels.

The L.A. Times had an article about Skybus "pushing the no-frills envelope":

I guess if you can get a seat for $10 (!!!) it's ok to charge for things that are free on all other airlines. It's not hard to do the math that you're still getting a super-bargain at that rate. But the article says there are only 10 seats at $10 per plane, so if you don't get the great rate be sure to do the math there too.

I was hoping to go from san diego to Sfo, but it doesn't seem to go that route.

All of their flights go thru Columbus, so no, you wouldnt find one from one CA destination to another. There was an article about them in the Seattle times a couple of weeks ago. They charge for EVERYTHING, including checking your luggage. My cousin will be using them from Columbus to WA (they dont fly into Sea, just Bellingham) in August. She was able to get $10 seats for her and her step daughter. I looked at their site and their regular prices are not that great.

Never heard of skybus but their policies made me laugh...especially this one

Apparently you can purchase the right to get on the plane first for an additional $10.00 and if you change flights that privilege follows you. The problem is that if there are no flights with priority boarding spots left (limited number per plane) instead of giving you a refund, they just don't let you on the plan...lol.

I suspect that priority boarding would be a pretty popular option so changing your plans could make it almost impossible to get out of whichever city you are in.

If you purchased Priority Boarding and then choose to change your flight, your choice of new flights will be limited to those that have Priority Boarding available. Since Priority Boarding is limited, this may mean that you have fewer flights to choose from.

They should be expanding their routes in the future. They have 65 planes ordered from Airbus. Hopefully they will add routes connecting points other than Columbus. For me it works out pretty good since I fly out of Columbus anyway. So far I've picked up 4 of their $10 flight segmants. One r/t to Oakland and one r/t to Burbank for DL.

Another thing I noticed when I was booking my Skybus tix is that they ask you upfront how many people would be flying in the particuar leg you are looking at booking. I originally typed in 5 and then my DH reminded me not to book his tix since he would book them separately with business. I then typed in 4 and got a lower price. If you have a larger party you might want to break up the number and book two groupings instead to possibly get a lower fare.
