I've figured out skyauction enough to win a bid at Sheraton Vistana Resort but I'm a little confused about the ReadySetGo auctions. I followed their explanation about searching the database and holding a room request but when I bid, how do I know what size unit I'm bidding on? I saw something about bid price per room. If you win an auction for $50, does that mean you pay 3 x 50 = 150 + 195 (taxes) + 15 for a 3 bedroom unit? Thank you for your help.

No not excatly.

On RSG auctions it's the same as the other auction. Your bid plus taxes ex. $50bid + 195.00+ 15. Not $50 per room size. They really mean per unit. When you do your search for your hotel make sure you put the size you really want eg. 2BDR- if that hotel charges extra for the higher price unit it will come up as an "upgrade" charge. eg. for 2 BRDM suite add $150. per week.

I'm pretty sure that's not the case with most Florida hotels but seems to be more normal for Mexico hotels that I've looked at.

Most people I've known to get RSG get a 2bdrm for the same price or the 1Bdrm. I've only done this once so then again I'm not an expert.

On a few that I clicked on there were no references to additional charges for 2 or 3 bedrooms like I have seen in some of the other auctions. (Seems so odd for them to be the same price.) Do you know how you search to find out how much the ready set go auctions have been going for?

You can click on "winners" up on the Sky Auction toolbar, then click on USA auctions. When the list comes up, I always click on the "expanded view" option in the top left corner because I feel the pictures are easier to see. Then I scroll through to find the RSG auctions. Or you could just look at the list for 3:00pm and 11:00pm, which are the end times for the RSGs...and look for them listed there...come to think of it, that may be a faster way than scrolling through the pictures!

Regarding how you know what unit size you're bidding on in an RSG auction...in an RSG, you are bidding to win the chance to select from available resorts/dates (someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems like the best way to explain this!). Before you bid, you can go to a page to check availability for your dates, so you know what resorts are available. When you click on the little bar that says "list available dates" under the resort that interests you, a list table will come up, listing the dates AND unit types available. On the far right of the table is a little bar that says "request", and you can request the date/unit type you want prior to bidding/winning an auction.

Apparently, they can't guarantee that the availability will still be there at the end of the auction, but I understand that if you win an auction and they can't give you what you'd requested, they may either upgrade you (someone posted they got the Vistana this way!) or refund your money.

I think Local_Girl explained it well. When I bid on an RSG auction a few days ago, I selected Orlando area, my travel dates, and 2-bedroom unit. I then got a screen of available resorts. I selected Orbit One and the screen showed "Unit Type" Two Bedroom. I clicked request and a hold was put on that unit until the auction was completed. When I won, I e-mailed SkyAuction with the info on the unit I had held and they sent me a confirmation.

I paid $51 plus the $195 and $15 fees for a grand total of $261 for 7 nites in a 2 bed, 2 bath condo. That works out to just over $37/nite. Can't beat that.
