OK. Here's the deal. I want to bid on an auction on skyauction. I emailed the resort to ask if pets were ok. They said yes, for a fee. Didn't mention to the resort that I would be bidding on my stay. If I win the auction, will skyauction make sure that I get one of their rooms that are pet friendly? The way it was worded on the resort website was that they had a few pet friendly rooms. Should I take a chance? Thank you all sooo much.

SkyAuction provides timeshare weekly rentals as well as some hotel rooms. To my knowledge there are NO timeshare resorts in the Orlando area that have sold weeks to owners with a provision allowing pets in the units. Once individual owners buy some of the resort, this kind of decision cannot be changed for existing buildings (allergies to pets, different wear-&-tear costs when pets may stay, etc.). So if you are looking at a timeshare resort, don't count on bringing a pet.

Once, we tried to get a resort to allow us to bring a pet on a timeshare exchange week, knowing that they actually had some regular hotel rooms & suites that were pet-friendly, on shared property with the timeshare. Couldn't do it.

So, before you book with SkyAuction, make sure that the specific resort knows that SkyAuction would be the source of your rental. Get it in writing (fax?) that you could bring a pet if you stayed there via a SkyAuction rental. If it works, I'd like to know about it! Sorry I can't be more encouraging.

A great website to find pet-friendly hotels & resorts is petswelcome.com

I found several house rentals through vrbo.com that allowed pets.

The two chains that we have taken our dog are Red Roof Inn and Residence Inn.

Red Roof allows pets as long as it isn't against the local codes. Some charge an extra $10. Call the hotel directly, though. Some Red Roofs put you in a smoking room if you have a dog. Some will also tell you that you can't leave the dog in the room alone.

Residence Inn allows dogs but charges $150/stay. They give you a magnet to put on the door so housekeeping & maintenance knows there is a pet in the room. You must be there when housekeeping comes, unless the dog is in a crate. They are the best because you can leave the dog in the room unattended and with a 1 or 2 bedroom unit and full kitchen, there is plenty of room. The petswelcome website lists some RI that has a $150 deposit instead of a fee.

The Holiday Inn Sunspree resort also allows pets. There is a $25/stay fee. I called to get info from them, but haven't stayed there.

I also saw on the petswelcome website that the IOA/USF hotels all allow pets. I haven't stayed there with our dog and have never seen any other dogs there. I'm thinking about staying for a night or two next year, but have to call them to get more info.

I would not take a chance with skyauction. I would try for one of the places through petswelcome or vrbo.
