Instead of the fee being $195 + $20

it is now $295 + ? (probably 25)

the home & away which use to be free are now $195 + ?

this increase to me is very high and unreasonable.

what is your opinion?

Now even RCI extra vacations will be around the same price when closer to their time. - last call will be cheaper (except Orlando doesn't have any last calls).

okay now very confused - some are still $195.

so it is very important to read the ad before you bid.

Thanks so much for the heads up. I've been watching the "Ready, Set, Go" auctions. They've recently opened up dates past 9/30/07, although nothing good has come up for my travel period. I'm sure I wouldn't have noticed the change until it was too late. I'll be sure to pay attention to the fine print in each and every auction from now on.

Have you noticed how high the ready, set, go auctions have been going for? I saw one the other day and it was up to $91 with about an hour to go. Perhaps it was one with lower fees though.

I still think Skyauction is a good deal, but usually we go for two weeks at a time (about $260-$275 a week) and with the higher fees we might be more inclined to Priceline the first week and then do Skyauction the second week.

hey at least I can still use the last call on RCI - but as I say lately no Orlando...

however there are Virginia and SC - so I can go to Williamburg, Myrtle beach, and sometimes Hilton Head.:rolleyes1

Pat,
You're so lucky to live so close! I know that we've been spoiled by the Skyauction rates for a long time. We were planning a trip over Spring Break (so we wouldn't have to take our DDs out of school again) and were going to stay at the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista for $59/nt. in a Kidsuite. I finally canceled because I just couldn't bring myself to pay that much for a 2* hotel when I've paid much less for a 2 bedroom at CPGV or Vacation Village Parkway. Then my BIL mentioned that he has a friend who has 3 rental places in Orlando and would find out if any are not rented. If not, he says all we have to pay is the cleaning fee (although I would at least give them the $275 we'd pay on Skuauction). We could get spoiled that way too!

Do you think it could be that the new auctions they are putting on are being raised to $295 and the ones that are still at $195 where put on b/4 the increase? Guess we'll have to just keep watching to see when the ones close with the 195 fee and drop off if all new auctions go on for 295 fee. And I think it sucks by the way :-) I always get in on the good deals at the end :-(

No - the ads with $295 are all over. so are the $195.

it seems to be based on the popularity of the resort - with RCI and skyauction.

a real popular one like Sheraton Vistana would be $295, but sometimes Bryan Spanish Cove is still $195 - I say sometimes - because one of their ads has the exact same resorts - the different - one says DISNEY.:rotfl: and of course it goes for $295.....

Yea - I can take advantage of last minute sales... I have been spoiled too - so I am mad about paying a $100 more - but then again maybe less people will bid so the prices won't go as high....

for just a cleaning fee - you can get a house!!!! oh is that worth it!

I guess we can't really complain because you are still getting an excellent deal for a week's stay. Some of these condos could probably cost over 1000 a week. At skyauction you are getting it, if won at a $1 for $316. Come on, where can you get a better deal than that. :rotfl2:

I do not understand what you mean what is "last call on RCI"? I want to go to Williamsburg in August on the way back from WDW this year and I was looking for a good place with good prices.

Are you sure there are still two fees? Used to be $195 + $15, but when I was looking at a RSG auction yesterday it just said $295., didn't say anything about the separate admin or service fee. Made me think they just combined the two fees into one, and increased it by $75. If you are getting a two or 3 bdrm condo for under $400 for the week, that's a pretty amazing deal!

The one thing I noticed recently is that they are really putting in some nice places in the last minute category for vacation rentals. Since I am a die hard SkyAuction bidder I watch how they work and noticed :confused3 that in the morning, is the best time to check:happytv:

Thats funny cause I don't notice that at all. Last year I got Cypress Pointe last minute but I don't see hardly any 7 night condo's going up last minute it seems to all be hotels and they have so many fees. But maybe I'm just not looking early enough but no matter what time does the earliest auction close seems like I notice them at 11 am are there some earlier that I'm missing?

I also noticed that there are minimum bids. I was watching one yesterday, and it was up to $300, and it said that the minimum bid had still not been met. Add that to the $295 fee, and skyauction has lost its appeal!

I hate that!

I agree, the new reserve bid on some of the auctions is not so great. I have been watching a few and on one auction it looked like the minimum bid (reserve bid) was accepted somewhere between $300-$400. Add the $295 fee plus the $20 processing fee to the bid price........

I noticed that about the reserve prices too. The had a 3 bedroom unit at Cypress Pointe about a week ago and the opening bid was $201 and it said the reserve still wouldn't be met at that price. Well, no one bid on it and I saw it again, but now the opening bid is $51 with the reserve still not being met. Perhaps they're noticing that people aren't snapping them up like before. We used to plan a two-week Fall trip every year using Skyauction, but with the increase in prices, we'll probably just stay onsite at WDW (especially if Free Dining is offered, but that's a different thread :) ).

What exactly does that mean? I see some up now that says Reserve not met??? TIA

That means that even if you bid $51 + the $295 fee you still would not win the auction because there is a reserve price on the unit. Say the reserve is $300, you would not win the auction until you bid at least $300 (plus the $295 fee). Not a very good deal anymore IMO. I'll just rent directly from a vacation home owner instead or stay onsite.

I bid on a skyauction reserve bid auction the other day. My max bid was $160+ (plus $295 fees plus $20 processing fee). My bid was not accepted and even though I was the top bidder by the end of the auction, I did not win it (no one did)!!!!!

Obviously, I will have to start looking at other web sites besides skyauction.

OT - spicey, do you know if Orlando shows up every year for week 50 in RCI last calls? If so, that is the route I may have to take, although I don't know if I want to wait that close to travel time to book.
