I am going to WDW in September for a week and am staying at the Vistana Villages

But.............I already want to start planning my next trip.

Has anyone ever used skyauction.com. They have some availability for early next year at the Vistana Resort. Prices seem to low to be true, even though bidding isn't over yet.

Is it something I should try?

Thanks!

Many people here have used skyauction.com, including us. We are staying on a skyauction week in mid July. You can usually get great deals through skyauction but during the busy season you may pay more for the same resort.

It's usually not the best price on the bid per night auctions but the timeshare weeks are fine. We are staying in a 2 bedroom unit in a few weeks and it was $326 total for the week. We enjoy the space and kitechen more then anything. We usually have breakfast before we leave which does help cut down on some of the food costs.

You can often get great deals bidding on RSG auctions as well. Just make sure your dates are availabe and confirm them before you bid. The resort we stayed at last year didn't have anything available for this July but seems to have all kinds of rooms in the fall when it is off season.

Just make sure to look at the additional costs. It's usually $195 per unit on a timeshare week but there is also a $15 fee skyauction charges so your going to pay $210 on top of your bid for most auctions. Some will offer 2 bedroom units at an additional cost. All additional fees are shown on the specific auction except the $15 skyauction fee.

You are also not required to attend a sales meeting unless it specifies it in the auction. There have been a few lately that are part of a timeshare deal but usually they are just RCI exchange weeks.

thanks for the info!

pardon my lack of understanding, but what is an RSG auction?

RSG = Ready Set Go

You will usually find them in with the normal auctions. They allow a better choice of resort options usually. There was nothing listed for July when we booked a month or two ago. There was a long list of availability for September but we had to go in July again this year.

With RSG auctions you have the ability to locate a resort you like before you bid. Then you can request that it be held for you until you have won the auction.

I have used them 5 times

3 for Orlando, once for a cruise, and once in Wisconsin

I have not had any problems, and you can't beat the price!

This is not a full service travel agency tho- so don't expect that

The only drawback I see to skyauction is that you cannot cancel and get any of your money back. I decided to chance it so I have a week booked in 2005. It would hurt if something came up and we couldn't go, would have burned $553.

:bounce: When you book there is an optional insurance page that includes cancellation as well as other insurance. I think it is $39 per auction but don't quote me.
