Last week I saw on a thread that skyauction was having a fall blow out sale and you could purchase 7 nights for $199,(it's over now) how often do they have these sales? Can you get on a "list" to find out when they are? We have used skyauction many times, but I never get this offer in my email.

fairly often.

but many have complainted about them.

they no longer offer places well in advance. you might be waiting until 30 days before you leave to get a nice place.

now if that works for you - go get them.

if it doesn't - then just continue to do the auditions.

Hi Pat, in your experience, which typical skyauction places would you stay at and which ones should we avoid?
In the past we have stayed at Summer Bay, Wyndham Cypress Palms, and Orbit One. Summer Bay was our favorite. The others were ok, the kids liked Orbit One, but Dh and I were not too crazy about it.

all the ones you listed will appear on the skyauction sales - though they were having one and couldn't find it.

:lmao:

remember though 45 days or less out - before these will appear.

these will be mostly 1-bedroom - for the 2-bedrooms (with exceptions) they expect you to pay more. (sometimes alot more)

We have never stayed at anything less than a 2 bedroom, we have a big family!!;) I always make my ressies at least 4 months out, sometimes 6-9 months and have not had any problems getting these properties. That being said, I have noticed that there are many different resorts listed that I haven't heard of, and I didn't know if they were as nice as the ones we have stayed at. Of course, we always travel off season so there is plenty of availability.:thumbsup2

2 We are considering are Oak Plantation and Silver Lakes. Are you familiar with them?

how?
for months now I have been checking for the end of january
they don't have anything for jan feb yet! ( well ok, I saw one property this morning)
I have been only seeing about 2 months out!

Skyauction is just not the bargain it was a few years ago. I don't even bother with it anymore and I still have a credit with them. :guilty: (I would love to hear of any new bargain sites.)

We have always traveled at the end of September through mid October, the last time we went was in 2007, I made our ressies in April. January seems to be a tough time to find something, I have looked before because 3 of our family members have birthdays then, but never had any luck. So it must really depend on when you travel if skyauction is a good deal for you or not. For my family it has been a Godsend!!:goodvibes

Silver Lakes - yes - have considered in myself. It gets semi good views. It problems is the same one with Westgate 0- sales people....

but learning just disconnect the phone - give family and work your cell phone - and never answer the phone in your room.

although sometimes just to heard them I do.... sometimes it just makes me :rotfl: especially when they start to threaten you...:lmao:

okay bad sense of humor...:rolleyes1

with Oaks it is a little to far from Disney for it to be on my list.

stayed over there once - the only pet friendly II is in that area - but a little further.

It was almost 30 minutes (sometimes longer due to construction) to get to disney.

so would rather stay closer.

but the resort itself is okay. now some didn't like being in the road next to the resort (shertberth) the one that goes to Disney - because of traffic.

but hey live in a city - a little traffic is not going to bother me much.

If you know anyone that owns a timeshare, why not consider having them purchase a guest certificate for you. It may not be as cheap as skyauction but you will have greater selection of resorts especially if you are not travelling in peak times and you will be able to book accomodation earlier. We got our daughter a 2 bedroom at Vistana Villages for $500 for the week using a guest certificate with Interval International.

that is definitely true.

find someone you know that owns a timeshare and is familiar with RCI or II - both have last minute or getaways.

rci last minute are definitely cheaper.

this site gives you some of the II - the best aren't here but you can get them thru a II getaway

Sky Auction IS NOT what it use to be. If you want to get a decent place and a two bedroom, you may have to add money if you plan on traveling after Jan 2009! I am very upset over this too. When I purchased my certificates, they were good for anytime of the year and there were inventory for 2/3 bedrooms. Now I am seeing that there aren't any. I also am seeing, as I stated, if you want a 2/3 bedroom, come Jan 2009, you will have to add money to what you already have paid for your certificate. I would never puchase from them again. I have written to them expressing my feelings. I have gotten one refund on a certificate, but I have 1 certificate that I activated to check inventory that I am stuck with! I cannot get a refund. I have to April 2009 to use it. I have a feeling that I will end up eating that money or using only a few days of the 7 since I cannot travel except for peak season.. and as I said, when I purchased, there were no black out times, now there are. They did a bait and switch on these certificates. I purchased something different than what they are now, yet I am stuck with it! :headache:

They are both very nice places but Oak Plantation is miles away from everything! Be prepared to drive a distance if you stay there.
