Sky Bargains

Hi

Am way behind the times, have just found out that Sky Bargains have ceased trading wef 21st July 2008. We booked with them to fly out on Sunday. They sent us our tickets on 17th July and I've just called First Choice who we fly with and they said we are okay. However, Sky Bargains didn't send us our Dollar car hire voucher. Just called Dollar in USA and they don't have our booking

So stressed out. Can't get through to UK Dollar office to find out what to do. And I know even though First Choice said we will be okay, I will be panicking all week that they won't let us on the flight!!

I hope you can sort your hire car out, Im sure your flights will be fine as you have the tickets and have checked with first choice. Once its all sorted I hope you have a magical hassle free holiday x

After a busy morning, basically left with hoping get the money back from the administrators. My bank are being totally unhelpful even though I have been a loyal customer for 16 years!! Have had to re-book with Dollar direct. Am roughly £400 out of pocket However, like DH says, think of those poor people who didn't get their flight tickets.

Did you book with a Visa or Mastercard?

Do they protect you at all? Might be worth phoning if you did use one of those cards.

My bank are being really unhelpful. I paid on a visa protected debit card so they should refund me, however, because the final payment was for 1 amount, for the car and the flights, and our flights are safe, touch wood, they say they cannot part refund us for the car !?!?!

Even though the car and flights bookings are with different tour operators! I have an appointment with the bank manager on Friday hoping I get somewhere face to face.

The tour operator, who are also supposed to legally pay out even though they haven't received the money for the car from the agent, Sky Bargains, are also being naughty and are refusing to pay up. Abta have advised taking legal action.

I booked flights and a car thru Sky Bargains 18 months ago. We arrived last Xmas at Orlando only to be told by Dollar that our car had been cancelled by Sky Bargains. I have been fighting for the last 8 months to get them to pay for the replacement car that cost us a fortune. My solicitor has been on the case for 4 months. Now I find they are no more. We are about £1200 out of pocket to date.

Have you tried claiming through travel insurance? Are you covered that way?

Sorry about having to shell out the extra but at least you have the flights.

sorry to hear this.

have you heard of moneysavingexpert.com, they are very helpful over there on the forums and should be able to offer you some legal advice and where you stand.

also you could try trading standards etc to see where you stand, if you go into the bank forarmed it may help.
