Hi - Just won my first sky auction (ready set go) vacation for ORANGE LAKE COUNTRY CLUB. I have booked and paid for it and sky auction has sent me a "Guest Certificate" via email which I printed out. Is this all I need to check into the resort? I am just trying to verify that I won't have any problems at that time.

The rate for the week of Nov. 9 was $269 with all taxes. Please tell me this is not too good to be true? Thanks.

Also....any recomendations on what part of the resort to ask to stay in? I am traveling with my dh and three kids 2, 4 and 6.

Thanks so much!!

Relax, it's true!

Skyauction is a fantastic deal.

If you've booked your dates and have confirmation I guess you're all set.

Have a great time!!

(I hear Orange Lake is very nice and usually goes for well over $100 a night)

Orange Lake is wonderful! We have stayed there through Skyauction 3 times since Oct. The 2 times we stayed in the West Village, which is apparently the oldest section, and while it seems a bit dated, it is very nice. The only concern I would have is with your 2yo. The units in the West Village have a small stepdown between the Living and Dining area, with a railing running between them for separation. My DD was like 15 mo. the 2nd time we there and she fell a few times there, plus she got her head stuck once in the railing, but we were able to extract quickly ourselves with no ill effects. Also, no whirlpools in West Village.
The last time (May) we stayed in a 3 BR in the North Village. Also, VERY nice, and much newer. The problem we had there is that there was only one tub and it was the whirlpool. The other two baths just had showers. Again, this was a 3BR, so I don't about the bath situation on the 2BR. Have fun!!

Thanks so much for your input!!!! Now I can't wait. I think we will ask to be placed in the North Village.

do not know if they accept requests from exchangers who are not "orange lake country club" members, it seems to me that have read some place that they only entertain requests for specific locations if you own there but do not know for sure..

in addition, your "guest certificate" appears as some RCI code in the computer until about 3 or 4 days before you are scheduled to arrive at "orange lake" at which time "your actual name" is somehow downloaded to "orange lake", thus they may not even show you in the computer at Orange Lake until that time...

as far as calling in a request, you could try but if memory serves me correctly, we tried that and nothing happened ....until we got there and were not pleased with what they had placed us in ( but then again we own there )

on the subject of skyauction, as long as people have the option of "purchasing" stays at orange lake or any other timeshare, it does not pay to "buy" into the timeshare scheme....

you get for 269$ what would cost an owner...

intial cost of purchase (declines longer u own) + maintenance fees and taxes ( last year 500$~) + cost of RCI membership (80$~ a year ) + exchange fee (139$ which must be paid if we go at a time other than the week we own) ...granted we own the week but it would cost us 720$ + to exchange into the resort we own at.....thus you have gotten a very good deal

do not get me wrong, since we have found Skyauction we have used them too ....to add to our vacations.... only using our exchanges to get into better resorts like the Hilton Grand Vacations in las vegas and orlando

we had thought about buying other time share but not when we can get some pretty decent accomodations through skyauction which we have done in orlando and williamsburg savings of 500$~ each time as opposed to using our timeshare weeks to exchange into the same locations

please let us all know how things work OUT.....

I really have to agree with this completely. Last year, I got Vistana 2 bed lockout for $90/night through Lodging.com. Not much incentive to buy as long as the prices to rent remain so affordable

Thank you so much to everyone who replied to my question. We, too, were thinking of purchasing a timeshare week through Marriott at some point. However, when you can get a deal like this, it really is hard for me to justify right now. Of course, these deals can end anytime and a timeshare you own forever. But maybe in the future....

Thanks again for all your input. Can't wait to see Orange Lake!!!
