We have eaten at 'Ohana on our first night for our last 3 trips and we really look forward to eating there.

This trip, we have a late afternoon arrival.
To make the most of our first day, we're thinking of eating a counter service dinner at the Magic Kingdom and saving 'Ohana for our LAST night.
Can I do that???

Anyone with experience breaking tradition?
Anyone recommend a counter service substitution?

Thanks,
IncredibleMom

Some people are really into traditions and that is fine if you want to do that. But reading into your post it sounds like you are tired of that tradition. Nothing wrong with trying something different! We have done something different the first night on each of our three trips, it works for us. Mostly we have learned our frozen, sick of winter kids (in Feb) want nothing more than to hit the pool first thing so that is what we do now. Some times we have hit MK for a few hours after swimming and eat counter service, last trip we swam and ate dinner at ESPN and did hair wraps and surrey bikes. Next month we plan swim and dinner at Teppanyaki.

One trip we ate at Cosmic Rays, chicken dinners outside in the MK in January. That seemed surreal for us to go from snowy Michigan to dinner in the MK!! :teeth:

I agree with vicb. Do whatever feels right to you. As far as cs in MK I like Pecos Bills. :cheer2: The portions are huge and it's a great place to share unless you're really hungry. We did 'Ohanas the last night of our trip and it was a nice ending to a great vacation. We had a table by the window with a view of the castle. :)

What's that old saying "Traditions are made to be broken"-?
That "new" spot you might try could wind up as a new tradition!!!
Our tradition always used to be CG the first nite. Then we got "tired" of it and started going to Narcoossee's.
THis trip, we're going to Citricos.

We had a tradition of going to DTD and eating at Rainforest Cafe our first night. We veered from tradition last family trip. We arrived early enough in the day to go to the parks that first day, so we saved DTD and Rainforest Cafe for a later day and ate in the park our first day. Worked out fine for us.

As Uncleromulus said, the old saying goes "traditions are made to be broken." As long as the tradition is working for you, honor it. But once you think a new way may be better, give it a try. :)

As far as CS in MK, our favorite is Columbia Harbour House. Yum!
