Skipping Mgm?

We can usually do this park in a long half day-(but I have an 11 year old in the mix that loves RNR..and dd(8) loves TOT) So we do ALL the rides. The kids really enjoy this day - and they LOVE eating at the Sci Fi(the place with the cars...they call it) There is a Honey I shrunk the kids playground that is a fun no line place. And there are characters here that you won't see elsewhere. It is a lot of shows- but they are all very entertaining for kids and adults(ok well maybe not all of them but most of them! lol)

I have to say MGM was wonderful!

The absolute highlight we look forward to each time we have gone was
Fantasmic.

It's such a wonderful show, words don't do it justice. You will all love it!!!!!!!!

If your DS likes Power Rangers, it might be worthwhile to do a morning at MGM. Go to the first Power Ranger Meet and Greet - around 9:15am. We did this and on our walk back to NY Street we saw several characters along the way and had them all to ourselves. There were only a few other families on NY Street so we had ample time with the all the Power Rangers plus Buzz and Woody showed up and some other characters. My kids also like the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Play Area, Playhouse Disney show and the Ariel show. If you just picked a few attractions you could be in and out in 1/2 a day.

I agree with the general favorable opinion of MGM, and would like to add one comment. There is a wonderful atmosphere at MGM that you don't get at the other parks. Especially in the morning, it is somehow calmer, more peaceful, more pleasant than the other parks. The size of it is very manageable, and around every corner is some interesting detail. MGM is my favorite, by far.

MGM is our favorite park, next to MK!! There is such a variety there that it seems there is something there for everyone. Both of our boys 7 and almost 3 loved it. There seems to be a lot of characters there too. We actually went back an extra day for our 3yo, because he wanted to get JoJo's autograph. I love MGM! :thumbsup2

When the kids were 2 and 3 we spent a day at MGM. Honestly, only Playhouse Disney was worth doing at that age. We all hated the Little Mermaid Show. Skipped Fantasmic because the kids didn't handle loud well. Muppets - the kids didn't figure out 3D glasses that trip.

At 4 and 5 we only saw Fantasmic. It was good.

Last year (6 and 7) we saw Fantasmic and agreed to skip it next time and make it an every few years thing. Good once, not something we will do every trip (other people do love this show, though). We also saw LMA, Indy, Muppets, Star Tours. The kids were too little for RnRC and too scared of Tower of Terror. At the end of the day, everyone would have rather spent the day at MK, AK, Epcot or the waterpark. We enjoyed Indy, LMA, Star Tour and Muppets, just would have rather been doing something else.

MGM is the first thing we skip if we want more time somewhere else. We do love Animal Kingdom, though, which is the park most people recommend skipping.

I can't skip any park. If there isn't enough time I have to combine parks. However, now that we have children, 4, 2, and live so far away, we only go when we have a week or more to spend there. I love parts of every park, and I don't like parts of every park. I just know what I can skip if we don't have enough time.

I can't imagine skipping any of the parks. We found quite a few characters only at MGM and AK that my kids will love to hunt for. I can't imagine not doing Fantasmic period. It's a great place to sit and relax and enjoy a fantastic show at the end of the day. And you see all of the Characters there on the boats. I think MGM is a nice mid vacation park anyways since it's sort of a slower calmer pace anyways (at least it was for hubby and I). At any rate to each their own do what you think works for your family/length of stay etc... No matter what you do or where you go it's DISNEY and you will have a ball.

MGM is one of our favorite parks, there is a lot of activities and rides for younger kids. My kids also love the great movie ride (not my favorite), The voyage of the little mermaid, playhouse disney and star tours. For me and DH WWTBAM is on the top of our list with TOT and RNR.

My 4 yr old DD only liked Playhouse Disney and meeting the pink power ranger at MGM. If your child is at all scared of the dark and of loud noises, they will be afraid of most of the things there. DD came unglued during the Great Movie Ride when the wicked witch came out. YIKES! Rockin Roller Coaster is my favorite, but DD was too small. Even though she was tall enough for the Tower of Terror, the theme was scary. Even though The Little Mermaid is her favorite disney movie, the storm and Ursela brought her to tears during the Little Mermaid show. She sat with her fingers in her ears during the stunt show. It does get a bit loud. After all of this, we didn't even attempt Star Tours. Needless to say, it was not a happy day for any of us. We'll be skipping MGM this year. It isn't worth DD being scared the whole time.

We never skip MGM - it is my favorite park. DS5 & DS2 had a blast meeting the Power Rangers. We like just about every attraction there. We would skip Animal Kingdom if we had to skip. I know a lot of people love AK, but in 5 trips there it has always rated the lowest in our reviews.

We had wished we skipped it. Our kids were too young - 1 and 3. I thought Playhouse Disney was disappointing. Beauty and the Beast was great, and the kids liked the parade, but they weren't going to make it to Fantasmic. We also thought the parked was PACKED. We had a hard time navigating throughout the crowds. When they are older, I'm sure it will be a great experience.

My DS8 loves MGM for the shows alone. We always go there even if it is a short trip. Where else can you see the Power Rangers on the street. I think this is a must see park with kids.

Don't skip it altogether but consider hopping between MGM and one of the other parks. We always do a full day at Magic and Epcot but include MGM on our "hopping day" as it can easily be covered in a half day, come out in the afternoon then head back to either Magic or Epcot for a few rides and then the fireworks. :Pinkbounc

Just got back over the weekend with dd2.5 and my 6 year old cousin. MGM was a big hit for us. Girls loved PHD, little mermaid, the parade and meeting the characters. There are TONS of characters in the park and it was relatively easy to see them all. We had a great day and would definitely not skip it on our next trip.

We were going to skip MGM, but my dh has never been. I figure we'll do half a day. Mine will be not quite 2 and barely 3, and my ds is NOT the type to sit through shows.

Don't skip it! So many shows for the kids. Don't skip AK either. I'd skip Epcot first.
