Skipping Fantasmic

We have never seen it. Each time we are at MGM, we either leave early or come back in the evening to ride the rides. My kids are still on the young side, so we will see it someday.

I would love to see it.

I'm honestly shocked at how many people are skipping Fantasmic. Not that I have a problem whether or not you skip, just surprised at everyone that skips it. There are long lines at most attractions. And even though you have to wait a half hour to an hour once you're in the stadium, it's a nice restbit from the active day you've just had. We find a seat, grab some food & a couple of cold beers & relax. Plus, our last trip, we showed up a little later than normal & didn't really have to wait in any lines. The stadium was pretty filled, but the CMs just looked for openings for us since there are no "seats", just bleacher-type seats. We ended up sitting in the 1st row.

Plus, to see all those characters at one attraction, with the water effects, & the storyline is just too much to pass up. Just because I've seen it many times before doesn't mean I will skip it in the future. I've ridden all the rides before too, but I won't skip those.

There's obviously no "right" or "wrong" answer. But I love the attraction. Plus, when I'm sitting at work or at home listening to Live365 & Fantasmic comes on, I can just picture myself down there a little bit more.

I don't know if we will be seeing it or not. With this being our first trip and all of the wonderful reviews, I think it could be a great experience. On the other hand, my family may be difficult to deal with. My dad is not really into shows but is a happy go lucky kind of guy. My mom has a weak back so the seating would probably be an issue. Mom is NEVER quiet. My daughter is a drama queen. Anything that she preceives as possibly scary she freaks out about. My husband was in showbusiness in many different capacities for years. He is more than happy to talk about how things should be done, even if it is to himself. I am sure that people would love to sit next to us with my mom complaining about her back, my daughter going off the deep end, my husband demonstrating his expertise and me trying to ignore them and watch the show. Maybe I could send my mom and husband to do something with the DD. Dad and I could go. At least he would be quiet.

We skipped it last time. While everyone else was watching, DH and I did ToT and RnR over and over.
We do plan on seeing it this year though.

add me to the list of skippers. After hearing so much about this show, I felt bad that we missed it the 1st year. Saw it the 2nd, and thought that it was ok, but definitely not worth sitting all that time for. To me, it was basically cartoons shown on a wall of water. :confused3
we will be on the rides, and probably cut out of the park before the show lets out to avoid the mess.

We've only seen it once back in 2001. We don't intentially skip it, we just usually are out of MGM by the time it starts. Last year we did try to see it again after we had dinner at the Brown Derby, but it started to rain and they wound up canceling it. We didn't have a chance to go back to MGM. So we'll try to see it this year.

Skip it and do the rides. We went in June after we were told how great it was and got a Dinner Package so we wouldn't have to queue. Our DD7 fell asleep before it started and we all felt it was over-hyped - and the fireworks anywhere else are far superior!

We'll most likely skip it too. Saw it over Easter, liked it but would rather do something different this time.

I wouldn't consider Fantasmic a fireworks show at all. But it's a great production. The story behind it is great & seeing all those characters at one show is great. I guess if you go into it thinking it's a grand fireworks display & it'll only be a 15 min wait, it may not be for you.

I think you oversimplify it saying it's only a cartoon on a wall of water. First off, the water wall concept is great, very unique, and not something you can find many other places. And in reality, the water wall cartoons are only segways from one live scene to another. They probably make up about 10-15% of the entire production. But as I said previously, I think some people have misconceptions about what it is. If you don't like sitting for an extended period of time & like to cut out of the parks early, it's probably not for you. Me, personally, I love it. While the seats are not soft couches, I appreciate the sit-down time after being on my feet for the past 12 hours or so. The stories, the music, the characters, they're all great. And I'm not in a hurry to leave the parks at all. Leaving work early to beat traffic? Sure thing, I'm all for that. But leave a Disney park early? Not a chance. I like to milk my trips for everything they're worth.

My DW & I just got back from a nice, long weekend at DW. And we made certain we saw Fantasmic. While I was incorrect as to the percentage that the "cartoons" are shown on the wall of water{It's more than I originally thought}, I stand my ground with my feelings that it's a great show. The water spray was especially welcome being as it was so hot. But the drama of the story & all the characters make it a must-see.

DH, DS7, DD7, and I all saw Fantasmic this past Easter week as part of the H&V dinner package. We had great seats, right in the center, and didn't mind the wait (thank goodness we did do the dinner package).

We all thought it was "just O.K." Didn't feel the Disney magic like we did at so many other shows, rides, or even how we felt watching Wishes (and seeing Tink) in front of the castle.

We'll pass on it next time. . . and the time after that. :wizard:

I would never skip Fantasmic.

Fantasmic and whatever Nighttime Parade is currently on at MK are two things I do myself if no one wants to go with me.

Istolemykidspins(Do you know how long it took to type that ;) ) I will agree with everything you said on Fantasmic.. I would not miss that for nothing..Nada..No way.. That, IMO is the best story/show/firework display(combined) that I have ever seen.. And the tears still flow ::MickeyMo

I've seen it once out of five possible times (including at DL). I only saw it the first time my last trip, but not without the desire to see it. Between the wait and the condition of myself and my party on other occasions, it just wasn't worth it.

To me it's worth seeing at least once, and I will see it again, but only if conditions permit. For me it's not a matter of time, because we spend the whole day at the park usually and have done everything at that point. One time I hope we do the dinner package.

What I do is head over at the last minute and try doing it in the standing room section; if the theatre is full, I hurry over and get 1 last ride on RNRRC. While standing is kind of a pain, you can time it out so if you start leaving when the final
caravan of character boats is about a third of the way, you can catch the end of the show and still beat about 95% of the crowd out. If you go to the very top of the sro section you can sit and still see about 90% of the show. While I think it's a good show, I'm not at all impressed with the water screen parts.
