Skipper canteen lunch res?

While at Magic Kingdom, we like to much lunch res. so we have a guaranteed place to sit and rest.

I tried to make a lunch res for Skipper Canteen for May 6 or something and I could only get 11:55 or 2:30.
Don't really want to eat that early or that late.

I was online at 8:00 a.m. 180 days out.

Anyone know what's up with that?

That's what I've been doing. Just thinking maybe they don't take res. between noon and 2.

They do currently. I would just keep checking. Also how many in your party? I found when I was looking they had a ton available for parties of 2-4 but nothing for parties of 5 for a long time. I'm 10 days out from my trip and a lot opened up recently.

Wonder if we tried to show up early if we could get in?

I'm thinking of just going with a QS backup and cancelling this res altogether if nothing opens up.

They were taking walk-ups in June. We arrived around noon one day and were seated (party of 5) within 5 minutes. I don't know if anything has changed since then. Keep checking for ADRs. When I was booking ours for this trip, there was nothing available for our dates. Nada. Then, one day, a whole bunch magically appeared and I was able to book a 12:15 ADR.

We're vegetarians and unless the Liberty Tree Tavern brings back the Vegetarian Proclamation and we can get a res there, the QS options don't look that great.

You're correct. But we were there after they started taking ADRs and were still seated with no issue as walk-ups.

Yes, but probably far fewer ADRs were made for June when people had made other plans 180 days out.

also try a table for 4. They have very few 3 tops so chances are you would get seated at a 4 top anyway. There is no penalty for less people showing up.

That veggie curry stew at Skipper Canteen was delicious!!! Came with coconut rice and naan. I had them add chicken to mine (and it was a very nice portion for $5.50) because I was pretty hungry, but it was a substantial meal even without it.

That's why we want to eat there. We ate at the Plaza on our last trip. And while the food was fine and the servers were very accommodating with our vegan/veg needs, it just wasn't an awesome meal. If I'm going to eat a boring veggie burger, I'll just go to a QS spot. That's why I'm hoping something at Skipper will turn up.

I'd echo what several PP have said--grab A time, and then obsessively check 2-3 times a day and tweak it if something pops up.

For our Thanksgiving trip, at 180 days I could not get one reside anywhere for our HS day. Kept checking until I got Mama Melrose (which we hate) at a time I didn't love, kept checking until I got a better time, and still kept checking until Sci-Fi opened up. Actually tweaked our Skipper Canteen time the same way, from 5:00 to 5:30 to 6:00. I just made checking part of my morning and lunch routine.

Unless they changed it back, Plaza is only taking reservations for a short time after opening, after that it's all walkup.

With that change, the LTT menu change and Skippers adding ADR, I imagine they are getting plenty of bookings now.

As others have said keep looking. We love Skippers and typically make our ADRs day of or day before and have never had a problem getting a prime lunch time
