Skip FastPass on some rides?

I heard that Avatar Flight of Passage should not be FastPassed because you will miss all the fun leading up to the ride. Fast passers will skip the "whole experience".

What other rides (at all parks) would Fast Pass miss the whole experience?

Honestly, I can't think of any attractions where utilizing FP+ will cause a person to miss the whole experience. The Flight of Passage queue is incredibly immersive, but I personally prefer using FP+ and having a 10-minute wait to the 5-6 hours of wait time that standby has been accumulating. Peter Pan and 7DMT have fun, interactive queues. Haunted Mansion and Winnie do too. KS, EE, KRR are all themed nicely, as are TSMM, ToT, and Under the Sea. But, when given a choice: I'll FP+ Pan and save the queue for an MVMCP night when the wait is 15 minutes, not 90.

Haven't been to FoP yet, can't wait to check it out soon. However, I think given how long the lines are, FP+ is still a good idea.

For me, while many of the queues are fun and somewhat interactive, given a choice, I'll still do FP+...unless it's a sub 15 minute wait for standby. For me, lots of queues are fun, some because of theming, some because they're interactive, or RnR simply because I'm a huge Aerosmith fan.

I would not skip a fastpass on anything for the queue given the choice! Some are fun to do at Rope Drop or when the lines are low though. PP, 7DMT, under the sea being our favorites, and my kids like Pooh too.

The character spot at Epcot plays old Disney cartoons (the cartoons of my youth!) on monitors for the folks waiting standby. It made waiting for 30 minutes a pleasure!

I wish more Disney attractions would do the same thing.

I've done FOP stand by and it was neat. Having done it a few times I'd be fine using FP from now on. I wouldn't wait more than 1 1/2 to 2 hours just to see the queue. I let my daughter talk us in to 7dmt stand by the other night and I wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes for it. There were three interactive parts but I didn't feel it really made a difference.

FoP standby queue is amazing and is the best out of any of the wdw parks. However if you don't FP it you could be looking at a 3 hour wait.

Other rides with standby lines that are good that you somewhat bypass (but no FP line misses the entire experience imo): 7dmt & Pooh if you have young kids, Haunted Mansion, big thunder has a couple cool things, Peter Pan, expedition Everest

Peter Pan: They did a fantastic job with PP, but that line can be long so try for it early in morning.

Under the Sea: There is some creative fun and lots to look at.

Haunted Mansion: Takes you by some interactive cemetery style stuff.

Expedition Everest: Has lots of cool stuff to look at.

If you go standby to Under the Sea after RD, watch out for the slippery concrete. We went last November, and the concrete was still wet - it looks like WDW washed it down each night/morning. My daughter slipped, fell and scraped her knees while we were walking to the ride.

These are the ones. And FP basically bypasses all the cool stuff in them. Also, I'd add 7 Dwarfs Mine Train as the interactive elements are completely bypassed. It's just some little games and such, but it's kinda neat.

True, but I was underwhelmed based on what the hype was about what would be there. So the level of cool factored in with the still long lines at most times, I don't think the time invested is worth it.

Just like as cool as FoP standby line is ....... do I want to give up that much time in the rest of the park to do it? Depends on the length of time you have for your vacation and how often you go.

I agree that right now the FoP lines are extremely long and I was glad we had a FastPass. However, the FastPass line is very dull, a long industrial looking concrete hallway. We could see the interesting exhibits in the standby line through a window, but until the wait times are down I don't plan on doing standby. Based on what I've seen on the internet, there is a lot missed in the FastPass line.

We did wait for the River Journey in standby and thought the queue was interesting and was less than an hour when we were there last week.

I would also add Thunder Mtn. You don't really miss anything all that interactive in the FP line, but you do miss a lot of the immersive stuff on the walls. Kind of like EE, but to a much lesser degree

True, I went back and forth on that one. I think that would fall into same place as 7DMT for me. Def not enough cool stuff to make it worth standing in that line. Now if it's empty, we'll zip through SB and play some.

I agree. I'm not sure if any of the lines have enough interesting stuff to make me want to skip the FP. EE has the most interesting stuff.

Last year was the first time I had ever gone through EE SB line and I was so impressed .. and it was empty so we were walking it fast like FP+ and all I wanted to do was read & take pics.

I'm not sure I'd skip a FP for FOP just to see the line, we actually rarely book FPs since we go often and don't mind doing stand by if it's less than say 50 min but from what I hear FOP can be waaaaaaaay longer than that. We enjoy the line at GMR, love looking at the costumes in the lobby and watching the new movie. Last trip we actually asked if we could leave the line and just watch the whole movie then get back in the line at the end in the movie room. They had no problems with that and there is a line for 2 people they let us get in when we were done.

This has been so helpful! If we do FOP first ride at rope drop will there still be incredible lines. It can't be that bad then, right?
