We're heading out to Pop Century today for 3 nights. DS just got a new skateboard for his birthday, and he has asked if he can take it with us. We only live an hour away, so since we drive, there's plenty of room for it.

But, I was wondering if there was a rule about things like this? I would take his helmet, and he would only use it if I was around, and it was an open area. I wouldn't let him board where people are walking around, or in the parking lot. In fact, I don't know that he'd really get to use it much at all, but he would really like the option to have it.

So, what do you think?

No it is a HUGE liability issue for the resort. And like you said he won't have time to ride it anyway, so why bother?
There are just too many potential problems. If he got hurt the resort could stand to lose a lot of $$. Not saying you would sue but they have to look at it like a possibility. If someone else got hurt (tripped over it) they could sue the resort and you. It could get stolen. If a CM saw DS riding it they could confiscate it.

Just not worth it.There really is no reason a kid needs a skateboard in SW anyway.

no you cannt use it security will ask you to not use it for the length of your stay.you cannt use the heelies either if you get caught they just give you warning so its not worth the head ache

It is not allowed. When you check in it will be printed on the resort documents that skateboarding at the resort is in violation of Florida law.

Okay. Thanks for the input. That gives me a reason besides "Mean Mom" to say no. The only reason I was even considering it is because it's brand new and he hasn't had time to ride it. We got it about 8:30 last night and it was already dark. I'm picking him up at school today and heading straight over to Disney.

He'll have to wait til Monday afternoon.

I would NOT let my DS bring his skateboard nor would I let him wear his heelys.

It is against the law in Florida to ride any skateboard, rollers skates, Heely's, roller blades, or other similar device on any public roadway, parking lot, sidewalk, or any other public space not specifically designated as skating/boarding allowed.

Not to mention the noise factor. We used to live near a spot where kids would skateboard illegally and that whoomp smack got old FAST. It penetrates windows, too.
