sizzix sidekick

ok here i go with the dumb questions again........
what's the deal with the sidekick and the embossing folders? i have a couple of folders that i would like to use with my NEW sidekick. (sidenote: i purchased it because everyone was talking about it and how cheap it was at creative express, and i can not resist a bargin....lol )
now back to the question at hand....they don't fit. i was reading on sizzix website something to the effect of you have to take them off the folder. can i do this or will i screw it up?!you have to buy special tape to put them back together. or do they make embossing folder just for the sidekick? i just love the look of something embossed!

anyone with words of wisdom, please!!!!!

Since I've already confessed that I don't read directions too often .......

Can I just say that wouldn't you think something as thin as the embossing folders would have been made to go with the Sidekick & Sizzlets??? Honestly!

When I was checking this out the other day I found out that the folder they come in has a counterpart to the brass stencil. It pushes the paper into the negative space of the stencil. I have no idea how they make that work if you take it out of the original. What presses the paper into the negative space then?!?

At least I now understand why they kept saying to make sure the brass stencil lined up with the counterpart. I couldn't understand why you'd take them off in the first place! But if you need to do that to make them work with the Sidekick, I guess it makes sense!

I have 5 embossing folders and I have never even opened them I got them for free when Sizzix was shipping them out with orders over $25 a few months ago. They are still sitting exactly where I left them on a shelf! LOL

Well mine were too. I only opened them to see if I could answer the question on the other thread about how deep the impression was. LOL I shouldn't be so helpful, because I really liked the results & now I want a bunch more!!

The good news is that our Mikes/ACM/Jos don't carry a very large variety so the only way I'll get them is from Sizzix....and since you need to order at least $25 I won't be doing that too often.

well that's what happened to me. I bought one quite a while ago and recently took it out and gave it a try. Now i want more. i have looked on line, (because my mikes and acm like yours has very little) and they have some adorable fall ones that i could use on my cards for the target dollar spot!!!
see it's all coming together now.....
