My DH bought me a Sizzix for my birthday a few years ago, but he was only able to buy one set of uppercase alphabet at the time. I was looking around on the Sizzix website because I'd really like to have another alphabet, or at least lowercase and numbers of the font I have.

They have a few sets on uppercase, lowercase, numbers and punctuation all for $45. I'm thinking that's a really good price. It looks like they are either doing away with or changing their products. I would like to have a Cricut, but it is not in the budget, and I don't know when it will be, if ever.

Would you buy the $45 set, or let it go? I use the alpha I have a lot when I do scrap, so it would get used.

Well, I don't have a Cricut, only a Sizzix, so if it were me, I would buy the set because I am a Sizzix Addict!:lmao: Thanks to Deb (Piratesmate), who is a HUGE Sizzix enabler ;) , I have lots of sets now that I use regularly, but have only paid a fraction of the cost for. I love my Sizzix, so whenever the sets go on sale that I don't have, I buy them. I will eventually use them on a layout and I don't feel guilty about having paid a fortune for them either!! :)

Sounds like a good price to me. My local Joann's had a large assortment of Sizzixs alphas on red clearance yesterday for $74.97.

I have both, but I still tend to use the sizzix more. 1) I could be more used to it and have a ton of die cuts and fonts 2) the cricut is still new to me and I only have two fonts so working it into my scrapping slowly....

but I would get the set if I didn't already have it.

I just bought a sizzlit alphabet at www.creativexpress.com for only $38. It has upper, lower and numbers. They are retiring some sets and have lots of sizzix dies on clearance now. I have the converter so I can use the sizzlits with the regular machine, but am thinking of getting the sidekick. I like my sizzix because it's easy to use. Since I already have a lot of money invested in it, I am going to stick with it.

I love CreativeXpress! :rotfl2: I've gotten the large majority of my Sizzix dies from them. Right now, though, those 65% or 70% off sales at the Sizzix site come awfully close in price. Shipping has actually been cheaper from Sizzix & they don't charge state tax like CX does now. Yeah - I know technically we're supposed to keep track & send it to the state, but....

I have 5 Sizzlits alphas and 2 alphabars. It's so nice to be able to use different ones instead of always the same. So I'd so go for an alpha while the price is right! ;) But I'd go for either a Sizzlit or alphabar. I wouldn't use the huge letters for titles. I just got U, S, and A so I can scrap DS's quest for the gold at the World Cup next month & my kids initials that I got as singles. They're the only large ones I can imagine using.

As for the Sidekick...I only got one recently. I've used the converter and was happy. Until the Rolodex swap...I encountered a problem with my fish bowl plants Sizzlit and found out that they knew there was a problem with the intricate dies. Anyway, I thought the die was ruined (the metal plate shifted off the base & refused to cut in the original machine) but in the Sidekick it still works!!! I had other Sizzlits that didn't work without a shim and there's no problem in the Sidekick.

So while they're still available - AND at a great price, I say grab one! :teeth:

I'd get the alphabet, too. I have a Big Shot and a Cricut, but I'm a big old pansy about learning the Cricut, so it's sitting unused in my room:(. I have three alphabets for my Big Shot, and I like that I can vary the fonts throughout my scrapbook instead of using the same thing over and over.

I will learn to use my Cricut when I do my Disney album. The reason I bought it was to get the Disney cartridges for it, which I have.

GET THEM!

I have a Big Shot (Sizzix) and I got one uppercase alphabet when I got it.
Then I added the lowercase alphabet. Then, I received another whole alphabet on sale from creative express for a birthday. Then, I received another whole alphabet on sale from creative express for a mothers day.

I use them all the time.. ALL THE TIME!
