Sizzix on e-Bay?

Sorry I'm so full of questions this morning, but I just had to ask something else.

Anyway, I've looked at all the listings on e-BAy for Sizzix including the Alphabars. Some of the prices are really good. Now I'm wondering why on earth would somebody have brand new sets for sale that have never been used? :confused3 I mean, how would somebody have that to sell in the first place, because I thought you could only order from Sizzix or get them at the craft stores. It almost sounds like a too-good-to-be-true deal, KWIM?

I'm just trying to clear up my thinking, and I surely wouldn't want to get burned ordering something that I wasn't sure about.

I don't know the answer to your question by experience, but it makes sense that stores can get them wholesale. Otherwise they wouldn't make any profit when they sold them. I've always thought many of those eBay people have set themselves up as small businesses. That way they can order at the wholesale price & then make profit by selling them cheap in large quantity.

Either that or they're "hot". ;)

I think I might do better with the AC Moore ad considering what shipping would be on e-BAy anyway.

Okay, I just called the store again, and I was told all the "sets" were on sale, and it included the alphabets. They're going to hold a set for me till I get there. Yay! :cool1:

This is what DH says!! :earseek: I got my Fun Serif through e-bay, the box was messed up, but who cares?!? I threw it away and the dies were in perfect, new condition!!

I bet alot came from "rejects" that the company cant sell on the shelf but they are not sellable in one way or another or people that know how to work the sales-

I have a friend who used to work for Quickkutz and could get any of their "not sellable" which for them meant bad/wrong packaging issues dies for about a buck each which is dang good for those items... Say I bought a ton from her and sold on ebay for 10-20 times the price- people still get the cheap but I make money...

Okay, I get it now. I wouldn't mind a misprinted box or something like that to save some money.

I have purchased many sizzix products from ebay and have been very pleased with what I have gotten. The prices were better --even with the shipping--than what I could get at micheals or joanns, even with a 50% off coupon. The ones I have received are all in original factory sealed packages and I haven't noticed any mislabeled packages or signs that they were marked defective, but who knows? I would imagine many of the sellers--the ones who sell sizzix a lot--are set up as a small business.

I do know that if you buy more than one thing from the same buyer, you can combine shipping and that saves a bunch.

I hate to go to the store with my coupon to find out that they do not have what I want. I hate wasting my time and gas money like that!

I have to agree with the above post. Some of the stores are very limited in what is in stock during those sales.

I thankfully have never been "burned" with Ebay. I got three Sizzlit alphabets for the price of one! And the shipping was industry standard. The woman even filled the box with a bunch (23-30) packages of embellishments!

I bought the Lollipop upper, lower, numbers for about $150. on ebay.

Now as for individual dies... I still think I make out better at Crazy Scraps.
Ebay tends to have closer to retail prices for the dies and if the supply for a particular one is high, I find people really OVERBID.
I suppose that's true of anything. I do put certain "Prescrapped" items on my watch list for "scraplifting" at a later date :teeth:

I bought two alphabets on E-Bay that were brand new and were great. I never thought about the possibility of them being "hot" until just now! :earseek:

I know in my case. I have gotten dies as gifts and found out I have 3 or 4 of same die and no way to return them so i put them up on ebay. I have also bought dies and found out after using once I hated it for some reason.
