OK, I love to scrap. I don't have a sizzix machine, and to be honest I had never noticed them until everyone on this bard kept saying how much they loved them. Are they really worth the money? Also, which dies would you buy first? I was thinking of picking up some dies while they are on sale this week and then getting the machine when it goes on sale....Any thoughts?

Can you tell I love my sizzix! You can get the machine for 50 % off
this week if you go to either Michaels or AC Moore, they are on sale as well as the dies. I have been accumulating the dies for over a year now. I have one rule: only buy when they are 50%
off or I have a 40% coupon. I also use my machine for card making and my boy scout troop loves it! I think it was well worth the money!

I think the tag dies give you the best bang for your buck when you're starting out. And there are several to choose from now.

I think it's worth it, especially if you buy the alphabet dies to use as page titles. I bought some of the leaf dies first- I think the palm leaves, a little leaf and also some stars. Definitely only buy it when it's 50% and I buy one die at a time, with my 40 or 50% off coupons for Michaels. :)

Do you know if they are fixed prices for the dies and the machine? Or are they cheaper at AC Moore or Michael's? I have both of them near me.... I might just have to go chek them out!

I love my sizzix!

I think the prices are comparable in both stores.

I've found the selection of dies to be bigger at Michaels lately, but AC Moore will order any dies you want from the catalog.

I think you have to really look at your style of cropping to decide if it is worth it.
Do you like a lot of titles? Do you use a lot of sticker letters? Do you find yourself buying the same die cuts all the time? Do you wish your die cuts were the same paper as your layouts?
These were some of the questions I asked my self before I made the purchase.
But I ended up buying a quickutz. Unfortuanetly the big stores don't carry them so you don't have all the deals like you do with Sizzix. MY LSS gave me a good deal on mine.

I do like to use the sticker letters...I have them in every color and size. I have just started to use die cuts this past year, and I really like them. You are so right about the colors not matching when you buy the die cuts at Michaels, this way they will definitely match...

One last question.... Can you use the sizzx to cut photos as well???

If they have a die that you would actually use to cut ( shape wise ) I don't see why . You can cut fabric, foam , thin medal , so I don't see why you can't cut pictures . It would just depend on the shape of the die . Let me go try it with a old picture.

I love my Sizzix! :teeth: And DS likes it too. He had to use it to get puppy die cuts. :)

I wasn't so sure about the sizzix either but I still bought one with a 50% coupon. :) Since then I have been accumulating dies when they are on sale or I have a coupon. I found that I use it quite a bit - especially with the alphabets. I will be at A.C. Moore in Framingham some time tomorrow picking up a die or two.......

they are worth the money, I started to buy by events christmas school the body and accessories that way you get complete sets. The abc are so great I only buy with coupons or 50% off like this week. Just be prepared once you decide to do it you then want them all. That is why I work in sets.

I am a little OCD anyway, so I have a feeling that once I buy it there will be no stopping me!!!
