In the "Passport to Disney Magic" that they send with your cruise papers, it says that your carry-on must not be larger than 9"x14"x22". That's a bit smaller than the bags we are planning on using. Does anyone know how closely this rule is followed? I'm not talking about carrying on a steamer trunk, just something that's larger than Disney's rule.

I saw much bigger bags than that being carried on. I am not sure why they would restrict the size of your carryon. It is not like you have to put it under the seat or in the overhead. Maybe a security restriction on getting it through the xray machine???

Hi RClark! That's not by any chance for Roy is it? That would be a real treat, sailing with a big celeb!
Anyway, I can't see them limiting you to that size bag when practically everyone on these boards seems to have taken a rolling, softside cooler on without a problem. Evidently the x-ray machine can accomodate something much larger than those other dimentions. As you pointed out, it's not a steamer trunk!

The rule of thumb here is very simple, they use an airport scanner for all carryons. If it'll fit thru the one at the airport it'll be fine foir the ship. That is just a safe number.

Great. Thanks for the timely responses. Nope, the R isn't for Roy. It's for Richard. As in Dick Clark. :-)
