I think there's a DIS section on the main website that lists rides that accept pooh size individuals.

My question: how discreet are the Universal workers in getting you the selected pooh seat. I hope they don't yell out some indiscreet message to another worker. (Do you size you up and tell themselves "this person is Hulk size?") (Do Universal workers think in Disney terms? Hence the Hulk reference). :)

I dont know specifics about Larger seats on the rides at US/IOA, however when we were there last week we encountered two not so happy instances for "hulk" sized guests.

My teenaged dds rode Mummy and after getting off told me the story of a family that appeared to be embarrassed/upset because the "dad" didnt fit in the seat of the ride so they all got up and got off. I didnt ride the Mummy so I dont even know what the seats looked like. I thought it sounded a little strange and thought that maybe they were confused.

However, strange enough later in the week, dh and I witnessed something similar ourselves. We decided to ride DD without the kiddos :) We were next up to load and watching the group in front of us. I am not sure how to explain this, but when loading you kind of "step sideways" into the row of two seats to get in your seat. I think a really skinny person could walk facing forward, but me, averaged sized, I walked kind of sideways to the seat. There was a lady who physically couldnt get into the car to get into her seat. She was in the very back row (I am not sure if these are larger seats or normal sized). She was a very pooh sized person. They actually put on the "technical difficulties" announcement and I have no idea what they said to her (they were being quiet and discreet) but she was walked to the exit door (time elapsed about three minutes). I didnt pay attention to the initial loading so I dont know if she was alone or with other people. I dont even know if she was trying to get in a large seat or a regular one. Also, be prepared if you wear flip flops you will have to sit on them for the ride :goodvibes

Sorry I dont know the details or specific ride/size restriction requirements, but hope that you find out ahead of time and are able to enjoy all the rides at Universal. It was our first trip, and we had a GREAT time.

One great thing we loved about Universal were the free lockers located outside the thrill rides for storing your stuff (two hours free).

I took my uncle on the ride back in April and he has a beer belly and the restraint did not fit him. They were very nice, just said I'm sorry we cannot accommodate you and let him off. No embarrassment,nothing...

We walked away with about 3 other couples who had BIG men who couldn't get on, they were cracking up about it.

When we got outside I noticed there is a seat outside to see if you can fit, like on the Hulk. At least the Hulk has a BIG seat, which he always sat in.

My DBF is Pooh sized and he has a problem getting on the rides at US/IOA.
He tied the sample seat at the beginning of the line for the Mummy he fit fine but went to get on it and he was told he could not ride it because eventhough it latched it wasnt latched properly(Embarassing  ). These are not good parks for pooh sized people. For some reason WDW is the only place he can ride all the rides he wants to and has no problem. PS he has a 54 incg waist and 350lbs so is very pooh sized. Plus every ride we got on or was inline for broke down.

Needless to say probably wont go back.

There was a fairly large person on the ride when I rode once so you can maybe judge the size that can ride.

Put in your search box ...walt disney world at large
on the left side of the page if you scroll down you will see a Universal section

I read it and it does NOT look good!!! I am concerned about the ET ride and Spiderman. Actually I will be worried in every line I wait in!!! I have read the rides at Universal and IOA ARE NOT accomodating to large people. :sad1:

I guess I have to knock a few rides off my list...I was suppose to lose weight before my trip...didn't happen! Hmm...can you lose 100 lbs. in one month and 6 days??????? :smooth:

OK I am 5'5" and was 350 and the only rides I fit on was Spiderman and Jusrassic Park but even they were a tight fit. I did get into the Mummy on one try but not the next.

Hope that helps.

They were very discreet when they had to move me to the larger seat but it was still embarassing getting up and moving.

It was actually one of the impetus for me to lose weight. Now 170lbs lighter I slide right in but beleive me I know how you feel.

I know that Dueling Dragons has a row that has a larger seat on it. I think that it was the 3rd row. On that ride you pick your row yourself, I mean the line goes to the loading dock and then people individually pick their row. There is a sign on this row that says something like "special seating" I'm not sure the wording exactly, but we didnt know what it meant, it didnt say "larger people here" or anything like that. Anyway, the seat doesnt look different, but it has 2 belts instead of 1, thats the only thing you notice. I think Hulk has these also, but I'm not sure which row and you might have to ask.

Also I just wanted to add, I read the web site and it does give helpful information, but everyone is shaped differently so dont assume you cant ride something automatically. I would ask first on any ride that you might think is a problem, if there is any special seating available. Sometimes they might not tell you unless you ask.

The first time we went to US / IOA my DH was bummed he could not ride the coasters. He is 300+ lbs and the restraints on Hulk and DD would not fit. Mummy was a little less restrictive and just barely fit. I found out about the pooh sized seats on the DIS and he was so excited. Each time he road this last trip, he just asked for the seat at the front of the line and they were happy to accomodate him.

Congrats MickeySF for losing so much weight!!

We are going to US in October and I have a motive to lose some weight by then.

i'm 5'7" and roughly 210-215. Do you think I'll be able to ride, I'm worried. Most of the weight is on my belly. :confused3 I'm pretty worried, I was really lookign forward to mummy......... :sad2:

Spongemage - I was heavier than you last time we were at US and I fit on everything just fine. You shouldn't have a problem at all on Mummy.

The only time I have had problems were getting through some of the turnstiles at WDW...they seem to be made for very narrow people.

On Hulk and Dueling Dragons, there is a "big boy" seat in the third and sixth row of each train. At ROTM, they usually put larger people in the back row.
