Isn't that too long? She's been to the doctor twice already, Friday and then again on Monday. Amoxiicillin was started on Monday but she is not improving. I hate to keep running back to the doctors but I'm wondering if she needs a different antibiotic. Or maybe she has something viral? :confused3

I'd definitely go back to the doctor. Did they say what she had? What did they test for? Did they say how long to monitor the fever for before becoming worried? At the very least, call the dr. office and get some advice from the nurse. That's what I would do. Good luck and I hope your daughter feels better soon! :goodvibes

She tested negative for strep on friday but she is still complaining of a sore throat and headache. The doctor seems to think the headache is from the fever but I'm not so sure. She's had fevers before but never this long and never with a severe headache.

On Monday her ear was red and hurting so the doctor started the antibiotic.

I did call the doctor and now I'm waiting for them to call me back.

I would take her to a different Dr. Get a different opinion. I hope she feels better

it could easily be viral-and then antibotics do no good and having her take them just helps make other infections resistant-i would go back to the doc just to get confirmation on that

My ds has been complaining about a headache since Friday and has a low fever. I'm 110% sure its a sinus infection because of whats coming out of his nose . Does your dd have any other syptoms like congestion and runny nose, discolored mucus etc? Its only Wednesday, so I would give it the meds one more day. If you don't see any difference in the fever, you can probably assume its viral but a call to the doc wouldn't hurt to see if they think you should come in again.

we've got the same thing going on in our house with out DD (Age 5) fever around 102, headache, some neck soreness, generaly crabby. I took her in this morning only to be told that it wasn't bacterial. Then they proceeded to tell me that we should watch her for signs of menegitis (Due to the headache and neck ache)

Oh joy.

With fever > 101 for 5 days and without a clear source, Kawasaki disease should be considered. Viral illness is also a possibility.

Good luck! Hope she feels better!

One of my twins , he is 5 had this and it went on for almost 7 days. I went to the doctor twice also. It was viral. But I was in tears I was soo worried. It seems to take forever for them to get over it. Hope your DD feels better soon.

Has your doc swabbed her for influenza? Sounds like the symptoms my ds had for swine flu. If positive for influenza A, it is most likely swine flu.
