Six people showing up for an ADR for four?

. . .Just spoke to a CM on this topic, and her advice was to show up 15 min early and the CM seater should be able to accomodate us . . .

1) The CM gave you bad advice.
2) We are asked this question quite often.
3) During busy times, this answer is totally wrong.
4) Figure it out - if the restaurant is full, how do you make a new table?

I was able to do this in May more than once. I had ressies for 3 for Garden Grill in Epcot and I was joined by 4 more people,3 adults and a baby. Called Dining and they could not accomodate us. The person who joined me is a CM and she said it will be no problem you will see. We went to the podium and didnt wait long at all for a table.

Same trip I had ressies for the Mothers Day brunch for only myself and my DD at the last minute my hubby had told me to take his dad with me. I was not able to get him a spot at the brunch. I brought him with me the day of and we were seated all 3 of us NP.

Why lament the issue? If you know your party is larger than your ADR just make a new one. If you can't get an ADR for the larger party that should be a pretty good indication of how busy the restaurant will be and if they might be able to accomodate you. If this is a restaurant you simply must try and you can not get a new ADR then its worth a try due to no shows but remember to be patient and courtious if they are unable to accomodate your party.

This thread made me laugh because I have a similar predicament! I have an ADR for 3 (me, DH and DD7) at CG, timed to see Wishes. My parents will be in the Orlando area that night (in Nov) and they said, "Oh, maybe we will join you for dinner that night!" I was like, "Ummm, no you won't!" I feel so mean, but they just don't "get" that this is not like going to Outback or Cheesecake Factory.

Good luck!

I would call and have it noted on your ressie. We had to split our group of 5 just to get into le cellier, I wouldnt risk it by just showing up.

* If you try to add people to an existing ressie, you must make a NEW ressie. ressies cannot be change once they are in the system. If the CM tries, it would cancel the previous ressie. This is because many times there is not a table available for six, so a guest will make a ressie for four, then try to sneak in the additional people. This stops the practice.
I just added a person to all of our ADRs and their wasnt a problem.. The CM actually pulled up my ADR list by my name and went down the list adding a person to each...

If your reservationis for an odd number of people, adding one will never be a problem as most tables are designed for an even number of people.

I think if any of your ADR require a credit card hold the chances are slim. Those places are really hard to get and people usually show up for them.

It will work that way if you are going from an odd number to an even number and only adding one (3 to 4, 5 to 6, etc) because it doesn't change the table size. Going from even to odd, or adding more than one person, changes your table size so you have to get a whole new ADR.

I just called this morning to change 3 of our ADRs from 4 to 5 people. The CM had to go to a different screen and make new ADRs for each of the meals. She then went back and cancelled the original ADRs once she saw all the ADRs I needed were still available.
