Six Flags and Cedar Fair complete merger

It appears that the only two major parks actually located within city limits are Six Flags Fiesta Texas (San Antonio) and Worlds of Fun (Kansas City).
Naming isn't conferred just to city. If you're in a county called St Louis, in a metro called St. Louis I'm pretty sure Six Flags St. Louis is still accurate by most people's standards.

It would be the same if Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun was instead called something Kansas City and was located not in the cities of Kansas City, MO or Kansas City, KS but rather a different city within the metro because the metro is called Kansas City.

I know most can talk about the various locations and some may be more inaccurate than others but not all, I know it all sounds like quibbling over nothing lol.

From what stuff has been released they don't plan on changing any of the names.

🤷‍♀️ I thought the subject was all of the parks affected by these mergers, not just the ones currently owned by Six Flags.

The discussion kind of broke off because my initial post was just about the merger. I did throw in a line about there not being any parks in San Francisco or Los Angeles.

We live about 2 miles from the park in Charlotte. It is technically split by the state line-- part in NC, part in SC. We haven't been to that park in prob 20 years.
That park is amazing. Has some great coasters and it's one of the best parks in the chain.

My wife and I are going there in October as part of our trip to Myrtle Beach.

I'm surprised at how many in this thread haven't visited any parks much.

I went there a lot growing up and we had annual passes when DD was young. Once she got old enough to go with friends DH and I had no interest.

Legacy Cedar Fair parks are starting to announce that starting January 2025 All Parks Passport add on to season passes will include all Six Flags parks. For $200 that is an amazing deal for a pass that includes all parks.

Even if they offer some sort of pass that is good at all of their parks, I still think of them as mostly being a regional draw. I doubt those who used to go to Cedar Point from nearby Ohio/Mich/Indiana locations will suddenly decide to travel to California just because they can use their annual pass.

There is a pass it's already announced. You're right most won't travel across the country. Many do Cedar Point, Kings Island a lot.

You would be surprised how many people do roadtrips for these parks and do multiple parks.
It's still a good value for parks that are close together. I'm sure many will add it for Magic Mountain and Knotts.

I will add it as I have 4 parks in driving distance from me.

Back when we had Platinum Passes for Cedar Point, we made a point (no pun intended) to travel to a couple other parks a summer as part of our vacation plans. King's Island was an easy annual trip, since it was only 4 hours away, but over a couple years, we managed to make it to all but 3 or 4 of the parks that Cedar Fair owned. Usually, the trip visit was part of a larger vacation (like Knott's Berry Farm was just a day trip from a larger DL vacation).

There's definitely people who like to go to other theme parks and how much the add on is worth it will depend on what parks you want to attend and how many in a given season. I remember one year pricing out my local park with the add on and it was more expensive than just purchasing the tickets I wanted for Cedar Point if that was the only park I wanted to go to (I can't remember if I priced King's Island with that but I think I did) but road tripping in from one park to another is something people like to do especially the rollercoaster enthusiasts

Cedar Fair owned parks already had an add on for the season pass that made it good for the rest of the Cedar Fair parks. This isn't new, just that Six Flags is now incorporating their parks and with the merger is now having a ton of options for people to choose from.

I’ve been to practically every Six Flags park when I would buy season passes. Same for Cedar Fair parks when I had their pass.

The theme parks were the main reason for some of the trips, and we’d add in a MLB baseball game and other local attractions,

For longer trips, say 10 days in California, Magic Mountain or Knott’s were just a small part of many activities.

I haven’t seen a price yet for an all-inclusive pass. I’m not sure if the $200 add-on price is accurate. Nothing official has been announced AFAIK.

Currently, it’s for sale for an extra $75, if purchased with a $115 2025 season pass to the Schlitterbahn waterparks in Texas, previously part of the Cedar Fair group of properties.

If they are offering at that park for $75 on top of your season pass, I can't see them charging much more than that when it becomes available chain wide.

Do you remember Frontier City? That's another theme park owned by Six Flags in Oklahoma City? I'm surprised no one has mentioned or talked about Frontier City. My godfather was gonna take my family there but we never got to go. I think due to this merger Six Flags will lower it's prices for fall and add some winter deals around Christmas. Have they ever wanted to expand the Six Flags parks? Like put more rides and add more shows and focus more on the DC Comics characters?

There aren’t parks in Chicago, St.Louis, Atlanta, DC, or Baltimore either. They’re really playing loose with geography.
Six Flags America is in Bowie, so the pin on the map looks to be about right. If anybody plans on going there proper attire is suggested. Wear your bullet proof vest. They might have cleaned it up some but it used to be like the wild west.

I've been to SFA. This is so far over the top that the top didn't even see it go by.
I hear comments like that all the time for many regional parks. People see things on social media about random incidents at the parks and assume it's always like that.

I find it fascinating when watching different vloggers and people I've met in those parks who love them and say they are great parks.

Then you go to Disney or Universal fan sites and many seem to hate on them for some reason

I think the subject is the previous Six Flags parks given way off location names, like San Francisco or Los Angeles, compared to being a long ways from the specific location. I know Magic Mountain is in unincorporated Valencia, but I think most of these parks are in cities.
I agree with this. Six Flags over Great America that the map claims is Chicago is actually closer to Milwaukee than it is Chicago. It's in Gurnee, IL. 45 miles from Milwaukee and 50 from Chicago. Valley Fair which has been owned by Cedar Fair for about 20 years now is correctly stated as being in Shakopee MN, about 15 miles from Minneapolis.

Six Flags America has a really bad reputation but I’ve never had a horrible time there. It’s far from perfect but I doubt there are more unruly incidents there than other 6F parks.
