We're doing a character meal of some sort every day for 7 days. In fact, the only exception is our first day -- because we won't get there until late and I want Chef Mickey's breakfast to be our very first.
My only suggestion would be to switch your ADR at CP from dinner to breakfast if you can get one before the MK opens.
It is great to walk up an almost empty Main Steet and get photos without hoards of people behind you and the castle
we will be at WDW for 9 days - i have 6 ADR's for characters meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) - my daughters are 7 years old (twins) and it is our first trip.
Do you think it is too much??? overdose of characters (lol)???
ADR's
CRT (lunch)
1900 Park Fare (dinner)
Tusker House (breakfast)
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (breakfast)
Crystal Palace (dinner)
Chef Mickey's (breakfast)
I've read through the thread, and I guess I'm in the minority - you don't have enough character meals, IMHO.
Our second visit to WDW we had DD7 and DD10 with us. We did CRT twice for breakfast (paying OOP - there was no dining plan). We also brought their Halloween costumes (DD7 was Cinderella and DD10 was Snow White). The first visit they refused to wear the costume - but not the second after seeing a bunch of other kids in the costumes. They then changed out of their costumes for the touring part of the day, and we stowed the costumes in the stroller.
Lots of places have Merry Go Rounds, Roller Coasters, theme shows, etc. But only one place has Mickey Mouse (live and in person), Winnie the Pooh (live and in person), Cinderella (live and in person), Mary Poppins (live and in person) - you get the idea.
We have some of the most impressive autograph books you will ever see, and we got those autographs at character meals, not standing in line for hours to see a character. Which leaves plenty of time for rides and parades and swimming pools etc.
We just got back from our trip (5/29-6/3) and did several character meals
Hollywood and Vine Breakfast
Akershurs Princess Breakfast
Tusker House Breakfast
Crystal Palace Breakfast
Ohana Breakfast
1900 Park Fare Dinner
CRT Breakfast
My girls (4/8) didn't ever get tired of meeting the Princesses or Mickey since he is at several. We even did the meet and greets at Magic Kingdom for these characters as well because the lines were short enough.
We use the pre rope drop ADR's to get us up and moving in the morning. Otherwise, we would sleep in and miss out on great park time in the mornings.
IMO, you can never have too many character meals. It's a great opportunity to meet lots of characters without having to wait in long lines in the parks. I would do many of these even if we were on vacation without my kids because I enjoy them so much.
You will get different answers from everyone. Our first trip was when our kids were 7 years old. We went to Crystal Palace and Tusker House and loved both. The other meals were a variety but the kids still liked them (Coral Reef, 50s Primetime, Kona Cafe, Hoop De Doo). Five of your meals are buffets. As a mom of multiples, I really enjoyed having someone take care of the meal instead of buffets where I still needed to help a bit.
We used to do more when the kids were little. We would never dream of standing in a long line for an autograph when we can multi-task. I like a buffet because it can be as long or as quick as you'd like.
We still enjoy CP for breakfast but now we just eat and run.
