Sitting up front on the Monorail...

We did not have to leave our stroller even though there were 4 of us (Me, wife, 4 yr old son and 3 month old son). We all rode in the front of the monorail with our big hulking Peg Perego stroller (kinda like a bassinet).

It may have been something to do with the size of you party (3month old). They can't have anything obstructing the exit of you or the driver is why I was told we couldn't bring the stroller up.

I have taken an umbrella stroller up there with a party of three before. We had a bigger stroller and a party of four when they told us we couldn't bring it.

Several years back, my dd(15) and her best friend sweet talked their way for us to ride in the front of the monorail from Epcot to TTC. While waiting for the next train, a father & his 6 year old son came up to the front of the waiting area. The boy was so excited to be riding the monorail. They lined up for the first passenger car. Since I had ridden in the front before, I offered the boy my place. As we traveled to EPCOT I talked with his Dad in the regular car. He and his family were visiting relatives in Orlando. THey really could not afford to do Disney. His son was very disappointed because his friends had told him all about the Magic Kingdom & the Monorail. He brought him over to Epcot that evening so he could at least get a chance to ride the monorail. They didn't know you could actually ride with the driver.

When we arrived at the TTC, the boy joined his dad in the car for their ride back to Epcot. DD said the little boy was soooooo excited. He talked and talked the whole way. He knew his friends back home had never ridden in the front. He was absolutely thrilled. His dad has tears in his eyes as the little boy was describing the experience as the doors closed.

But anyway, riding up front is really fun even as an adult. And if you are in the front already, the next stop should not make you get out. They should make the family waiting, wait for the next free train.

A CM explained to us once why this would happen. On the resort line only, each resort is assigned a certain color for that day. What that means is that the designated color ensures a family waiting at the particular resort would ride that train. Example would be if The Poly is assigned the red monorail. You get on the red monorail and drive it at the GF. When you arrive at the Poly if there is a family waiting to drive you have to give up the front car even if it's your first stop or not where you intended to get out. Other than this instance, you wouldn't have to get out even if someone is waiting when you arrive. We've seen a family waiting and when they saw we were in the front, then they just waited again for the next train. Hope this helps.

We got on the monorail up front with our yr old granddaughter last week. We were allowed to make a complete loop on the first car

I rode up front with my good friend last week. It was a really ncie view.

We rode up front twice on our January trip from TTC to Epcot. DH enjoyed it, and I thought it was great, but it certainly wasn't because of the CMs. Unfortunately, both drivers were rather sullen, and didn't speak at all to us.

it still was a wonderful ride, and I would ask to ride up front again, but I won't expect the drivers to be friendly.

Me and my best friend (we are both 30 yr olds) got to ride up front from MK to the TTC. It was lots of fun! :earsgirl: Adults have just as much rights to ride in the front as a kid (we are all kids at heart)

My 6 yo dd and I got to ride up front thanks to the kindness of an older couple who were waiting their turn as we showed up. We asked the line attendent if we might ride up front. He said that someone else had already requested this. The couple offered to let us join them. It was so kind of them. My dd was thrilled and so was I. Our first trip ever and we got to ride up front. What a memory!

Awww ! See that is what disney is all about! Kindness, love, sharing! The most magical place on earth! :wizard:

We rode in the front of the express monorail from TTC to MK twice last year, with DS, 4, and DD, 1. We were allowed to have our folded up stroller, probably because I was carrying DD in a sling.

I agree with the PP who mentioned sullen drivers. That was our experience, also, both times. We were never even offered the "co-pilot's" certificate for DS, who is a HUGE monorail fan. Regardless, it was still a great experience.
