We are doing a VR Escape in July 2008, we will be in Disney World for Thanksgiving. Can you do anything "in person" with the wedding coordinator if you plan on coming down for a few days. Can you taste the different wedding cake flavors, or is that just for a custom wedding? Just wondering!:goodvibes

Cake tastings are only for custom weddings. I have heard of intimate brides paying to have a tasting but I am not sure if this is still an option.

Yeah, one Escape bride got to ""buy" a cake-tasting for $75, but apparently when some others asked for the same thing they were told they couldn't do it. I say order a $25 8-inch birthday cake from the Grand Floridian to have at a restaurant there - you'll get more cake at a third of the price!

kind of in the same general categories...

how far out will the let you meet with a WC and do a site visit. I am going in December and would just like to get a few questions answered and possibly go see the LSS and the Attic. I am planning on a custom in 2009 and will go down for a official visit with my WP when the time is appropriate but since i'm there I would love to talk to someone sooner. (I know it won't be my WP and I know that I won't be able to do anything but I just want info)

We are heading down for Thanksgiving also and will be doing a site visit that week. We have an appointment with Heidi. I will say that we are doing a custom wedding and plan on having at least 50 people.

We are planning on going back sometime in May and doing a planning meeting - at this one we will do a cake and food tasting.

Not sure what the rules are for Escape wedding. Why don't you call and find out.

Linda

I'm going down in December for informal site visits for our December 2008 wedding. I was wondering also if you could meet with the WC or do any cake testing for an Escape wedding.

I asked about the site visits (i.e. Wedding Pav) I was told by DFT staff that you could visit anytime on your own during operating hours as long as no event was going on and face to face consults are for wishes brides not escape.

Yes... I live in Florida and tend to stop by the Pavilion every once in a while. It's just so beautiful!!! You can walk into Franck's and look around. I am a custom, so I look at pictures of the cakes and table styles to get ideas. The pavilon is always open during the day and you can walk around as long as there is not a wedding. They will even let you in while they are getting set up.

I second what lurkyloo said. We are having an Intimate and are set on our wedding cake flavors, but not on our groom's cake. We are going down next weekend to eat a lot of cake! :rotfl2:

To make your own cake tasting, you must be either staying at the GF or eating there. The cakes are $25 each for butter cream icing or $40 each for fondant. You can call GF private dining and they will direct you to the proper person. You can then choose your cake flavor and filling flavor. We are going to taste 3 cakes... $75 total. That's a lot of cake, but we'll take them to my brother's in Orlando and have something to satisfy our sweet tooth whenever we visit for a while!

When you are down for Thanksgiving, maybe you can do the pseudo-cake tasting. I would also recommend walking around and looking at the ceremony locations. DF and I did that before we decided to have DFTW. We also checked out the dessert party locations and many of the reception sites are at the very least visible to guests.
