We are just back from a week of wonderful eating. We really didnt have a bad meal the whole week, and I gained 7 lbs to prove it.
Our party consisted of 2 familys, 4 adults and 4 boys, ages 3, 4, 6 & 6.
ESPN-We walked in Sunday evening with no wait, and the restaurant was not crowded at all. We love the relaxed atmosphere here, and they kids enjoyed the sports memorabilia. They also were given little toys to play with which made them very happy. Here we had typical bar food which was all good. The adults had boneless buffalo strips, pulled pork sandwich, steak, and a burger. I only remember what my kids had, macaroni & cheese. Everyone was pleased with their meals
KONA CAFE- This became my favorite restaurant a few years ago and since then we have been back quite a few times. As always it did not disappoint! Food, service, and atmosphere were all perfect! We split some sticky wings which we all loved. My favorite, the Beef Terryaki doesnt come with sticky rice anymore, but with mashed potatoes. I asked if I could substitute the rice and they said absolutely, so that made me happy. The others had Prime Rib & Beef Tenderloin. My kids werent too hungry and dont eat a lot anyway, so they split a hotdog and fries, and then we got an order of sticky rice for my youngest. This kid eats nothing but he was devouring my rice. So, if he eats it, you know it has to be good. The other kids shared with their parents. Everyone left very impressed and very full. The Kona Cafe remains my favorite restaurant.
PLANET HOLLYWOOD- We had eaten here in 95 & 98 and enjoyed it then. I picked this restaurant thinking the kids would get a kick out of it and since its loud, that was a plus with our gang. I heard many bad reviews about it and people told me not to go. I did think about cancelling, but we gave it a shot and were glad we did. The kids really did think it was neat. They loved the music and props. The only problem we had was one of the 6 year olds didnt like the fact that Cousin It was on the wall behind him, LOL! But he got over that fast. I had the LA Lasagna which I thought was excellent. It sort of reminded me of fried raviolis. DH had the chicken, broccoli, & pasta dish. This too was very good, although the pasta was a little undercooked. The others had surf & turf, and a fajita and enjoyed their meals too. The kids had pizza which wasnt the greatest, but not bad either. It was typical kids food. Another kid had pasta with sauce which was very good. After the meal our friends said they thought the prices looked a little high at first, but after they got their food they felt it was well worth it. We were all happy with this meal too.
MAMA MELROSE(FDP)- This was DH & my 6th time eating here. We always enjoy it very much except for last year when we were disappointed. After seeing the new menu from last year was changed some more, we decided to give it another shot. They definitely redeemed themselves. We had a 5:30PS, but had to wait about 15 minutes. The other couple started off with a pitcher of Sangria which they really enjoyed, while DH had a beer and I had a White Russian. I have to say they had the best mixed drinks here out of all the restaurants. We all had the Field of Greens Salad. While DH and I liked the dressing and the cheese, we didnt care for the "greens". We both prefer regular lettuce, not the planty/leafy type. It would have been nice if we could have chosen a Caesar salad instead of that, but there was plenty more food to come. We got the 4 cheese flatbread(which I loved as usual), and the other family got the one with chicken. For meals, DH & I both got Chicken Parm with spaghetti, which was very good. The others had Salmon, which one thought was good and one thought was excellent. Im not sure about their other dish. Our waitress brought the wrong meal. I believe she had ordered veal and was given some sort of chicken dish. In the end she was very glad the waitress made the mistake because she thought the meal was excellent. Other than that our service was very good too. With our group, I cant blame the waitress for being a little confused, LOL! For dessert each couple got 1 tiramisu and 1 cheesecake. Both were excellent. The kids had icecream. Im happy to say we will be going back here again.
ALFREDOS- The other family stopped in there for lunch one day with no wait. Im not sure what they had, but I know they enjoyed that meal.
CHEF MICKEYS- This was our 1 sit down breakfast of the trip and we really enjoyed it. My family has done this a few times before, but the other family had never experienced a character meal(they were fairly new to WDW). They loved the whole set up. As usual the food was wonderful. I love that breakfast pizza! The character interaction was great too. I prefer how the characters just come around at any given time as opposed to having to wait for them at Donalds Breakfast. We have had a great time with Goofy in the past, but this time he topped himself. After breakfast we were walking out by him and the kids stopped to get a picture. Then they were fooling around and Goofy pretended the kids knocked him down. The kids followed suit(my first thought to my kids was "get off the floor!", but then I figured if Goofy was doing it, leading them on, I guess it was ok). So then Goofy started doing push ups and all 4 boys followed him. It was absolutely adorable! We left here very full and with lots of great pictures.
Any questions, just ask!
