Looking for a sit down dinner MK. Last time we tried to do QS (Pecos Bill) the crowds made it impossible to find a seat, etc. was thinking of Skipper Canteen, Tony’s or The Plaza.

I think Liberty Tree Tavern is the best. We eat there on every trip.

Yes, I thought of that one, but we’d prefer a smaller meal or the AYCTE that offered at dinner time. We’re looking for a la carte.

Skipper Canteen is our go-to for a sit down dinner inside Magic Kingdom. Occasionally we switch it up and go to Tony's (this gets some bad reviews here, and while not amazing in any way, we've never had a bad experience). We'll do Crystal Palace if we want the kids to have a character experience. Cinderella's Royal Table is a great experience for children that are into the princesses. If food is your primary concern, then I stand by my first suggestion of Skipper Canteen.

What are some good things to get at Skipper Canteen? We’re not big on seafood/fish, but like everything else.
Also was thinking of this for an arrival day dinner, so didn’t want to commit to time with an ADR. I walk up possible if you dine early?

I really enjoy the falafel and thai noodles

My daughter and I enjoyed Skipper Canteen. We did same day ADR in early August 2018 around 5:30pm. I think I made the ADR maybe an hour or so before and it turned out to not be necessary as they were seating immediate walk ins. We ordered 3 of the appetizers instead of meals and shared them because we wanted a lighter dinner and then dessert. We ate the Shiriki noodles, the shu mai, and the cachapas. All were good but the cachapas were our favorite. Desserts were ok. We had the Quick Sand (meh), the Volcano (good; they let us order this from the kids' menu), and a surprise cupcake that they brought out for my daughter's birthday. We were seated in the S.E.A. room with a few other parties and it was very quiet.

We are planning to return here for dinner on our next trip. We will be trying LTT for the first time too, but, like you, we don't want the AYCTE dinner. We will be going there for lunch instead.

At Skipper, we've had the steak which was very well seasoned. We've had lamb chops which were very good. The falafel is very good and so is the chicken dish on the menu. Some really love the braised pork dish, but we've never ordered it. Skipper often times has day of ADR's available. We typically acquire an ADR even on our arrival day, we normally book a 2 hour window from arrival time at the MCO. Never have an issue making our ADR in that time period. Skip dessert and go for the Dole Whip next door. Ha
Of course we don't think you can miss with Liberty Tree, if you want a Thanksgiving style meal. One of the better ones we've had at a restaurant setting I might add.

Great review. Thanks.

I want to go to Skipper Canteen so bad but the menu is too adventurous for the rest of my party. We're doing The Plaza for lunch so that should be nice.

A 10 minute walk away from MK is The Wave at the Contemporary. While not in the park, it's convenient and consistently receives reviews exceeding anything in the park itself. The only downsides are that it is slightly expensive and you'll have to go through the security check on the way back into MK.

There was a time when you could walk up to Skippers, but in my last few visits, this place is busy. I would not count on a walkup.

We like skippers, I always order the steak. it is delicious. My DD does not eat beef and orderd the chicken or pork. She likes them both.

I had lunch at Tony's in December and was pleasantly surprised. the food was good as was the service.

If you are concerned about keeping an ADR I would not make one, and would rely on a CS meal. Columbia Harbor House is good.

I second Tony's. The hostess fit us in with a small wait, the food was good and the wait staff was accommodating.
Thanks. We last ate at Tony’s over 10 years ago. I was scared off by all the bad reviews I see. Apart from any wait, was it a slow meal at Tony’s or were you out in a reasonable amount of time.?

Thanks. I guess we might play it by ear. We land around 12 and will probably wait for a late lunch at Contempo Cafe before heading over to MK. I’m not sure when or how how we’ll feel like for dinner—I just wanted to avoid the hectic atmosphere or the QS places at dinner time.
