Sister's Birthday the Day After the Wedding

Everyone on here is full of good ideas! Hope you can help. We will be celebrating my Sisters 50something Birthday at WDW. It is the day after my wedding at Wedding Pavillion. I asked her what she would like to do and she said a nice lazy day by the pool and a celebratory dinner in the evening (we will have been there over a week by this time). We are on the Deluxe Dining Plan. DF and I thought it would be nice to go to DTD as we will not have spent much time there and we all love to wander and look around DTD. But none of the places on the DDP look that good for a Birthday dinner at DTD though we did consider Raglan Road but again I don't think it is special enough. We will be 4 adults, 3 teenagers and one 6 year old. One of the adults and the 6 year old are picky eaters. We will have had steak at the wedding reception and a dessert party at Epcot the evening of the wedding so want to avoid steaks. Also as the wedding events are at the Grand Floridian and the dessert party is at Epcot not sure if we want to go back to either of these places, though ordering Cinderalla's Slipper for her Birthday instead of a cake at the GF would be nice instead, as I think we will all be caked out by then. I want her to have a really good-fun-special Birthday evening.

I know a lot of restrictions sorry - help me please!

Of my favorites, I'd have to say 'Ohana? It'd be good for a b-day, and it fits the picky eaters (I'm a picky eater, plus I have high cholesterol...although I went off my diet during our Disneymoon, so I hear ya' on that!), something other than steak thing (they also have REALLLLLLLY good Asian wings, chicken, turkey, and shrimp, as well as yummy noodles and bread and veggies I believe). It's a lot of fun there, great to celebrate (D.H.&I went there the night after our wedding w/one of our groomsmen), and def. good for a bigger party (the group next to us had prob' 16). For dessert, we got free cupcakes cuz of our ears and Just Married pins, so I'm sure they could do a cupcake for everyone instead of cake, and that def. tastes different (I hear ya' w/the being caked-out thing. D.H.&I had our cake 'til we left Disney, so the cupcakes were a warm welcome even after 2 days of wedding cake, hahaha).

Ohana is a good idea and you could end the evening on the beach watching Wishes and the EWP.

Just adding in another thought. If it was my birthday, I would want to go somewhere a little more upscale than Ohana (and IMHO, RR is a lot nicer inside than Ohana). What about Wolf Gang Pucks or Fulton's? Or perhaps one of the nicer restaurants at one of the deluxe resorts? Lots of them give out really fantastic desserts to people celebrating! Than people can order what they want without having a set menu.

I didn't mention Fulton's cuz of the pickey eaters, but Wolf Gang's is a good idea! Il Mulino or w/e at the Swan or Dolphin is nice too...but I think they do chocolate cake for dessert.

'Ohana would be my choice also. This is our favorite restaurant. Great food, loads of fun and I am sure they will sing happy birthday. Make sure to put her birthday on the reservations and make sure to get her a birthday button. You will all get leis.

You can explore the Poly, walk down to the beach and catch the Electric Water Pagent and maybe even Wishes.

Thanks Ladies - I should have said in my original post that we are doing Ohana's for the welcome party at the request of DF's Sister. But I will check out Wolfgang Pucks. Any good experiences anywhere else?

We were at WGP in 2006 on the DP. It was awesome! We did that just before we saw Cirque Du Soleil...AMAZING! It was our last night in Disney and a great way to top off the trip!
We were not there for a celebration...but the food was fantastic and the service was great!

I had a really good experience (for my bachelorette/D.H.'s bachelor party) at Latin Quarter, but it's at CityWalk in Universal, lol. I honestly can't think of any more Disney places that are good for picky eaters and aren't steak places 'cept maybe Mama Melrose's in Hollywood Studios. There's the English pub (outdoor or indoor seating), but that's a little casual. Umm...I like Mexico inside, but check the menu in terms of picky eaters. They made plain cheese quesadillas for me special last time I went. In the Magic Kingdom I love Tony's Town Square Cafe, but it's a little loud. The only other place I've eaten at DTD is T-Rex, and while it's awesome, it's super cas.

My group dinners included Raglan Road, Biergarten and Ohana. Everyone loved RR and Biergarten, even the picky eaters! Like Ohana, Biergarten does a "shout out" to anyone celebrating, and they have a wide variety of food, although I am not sure you were looking for an in park place. It was def one of my favourite moments of the group portion of our trip!

How about a dinner show, like HDDR? The food isn't that special, but for the most part, it is something everyone would like!

I need to re-try the Biergarten. I wanted to during our honeymoon, but it's hard to fit in all the good eats! Last time I went I was a SUPER picky eater (like ridiculous really, I was 10 I think), and I lived off the noodles there. Loved the entertainment tho'! So yea...def. goin' back there next time! I think D.H. would love it too!

It is really good! I was worried because although I am not a picky eater, I don't really like German food, but there was a lot to choose from! Most of the picky eaters stuck to salad, potatoes (so many good ones), chicken and of course the amazing pretzel bread (I wish there was a drool icon to put in here)

Thanks everyone - I booked the dinner show Hoop De Doo Review for my Sister's Birthday which is the the day after our wedding. So we are going to have a lazy day by the pool and then some fun and a different change of pace in the evening. We might head over to DTD after. I talked it over with our friend who is also coming from England. No one in our party has been before, and we will have had a lot of dinners both formal and informal. There are so many great reviews so we looking forward to it. Thanks everyone.
