Sister Wives

Robyn should be getting child support from her ex. I would assume her ex would also have some input into paying for their kid's education when the time comes.

I think a majority of you guys are getting suckered into believing the family is actually concerned about education and vehicle costs for their children. I watched the season premiere and it screamed "scripted drama" at the top of its lungs.

They've been at this for, what, five seasons now? Each season they likely get a raise. Plus bonuses. Plus they bring home money from speaking engagements, advertisements and so on.

While it might not be hundreds of thousands an episode, I'm sure what they're getting paid is a sizable amount.

All of them seem to have had issues with money in the past (read: they're horrible with it), so the conversation we saw in the premiere might very well be a legit conversation between five adults who know jack about saving and investing for the future.

I, however, think it's one of the last topics the show's producers and writers can mold to create drama.

I found tonight's show interesting. They are planning what could potentially be a $10k plus "re-commitment" party after last weeks discussions about the coming college expenses. :sad2:

AND news flash MERI cries through most of the episode. :headache:

Look I had my two go off to college and ya I was sad as they neared the end of their high school days BUT they were just so incredibly happy with their pending college and college days THAT right there made me BEYOND happy.

I did not cry every time someone asked me about them leaving.

It appears Mariah is thrilled to be going to Westminster so Meri be happy for her.

And I had NO idea that Christine had a daughter graduating because there has been sooooooo much talk and discussion about Mariah graduating it was overshadowing Christine's daughter whose name I do not even know.

I wonder what Kody's friends think of his hair? It so needs to be CUT. :headache:

And as far as that commitment party goes the Brown's have a BOAT LOAD of other important things they could be spending that $10 grand on. :headache:

I found last night's episode thoroughly annoying.

Like mentioned above, they were trying to get Mariah to go to a cheaper college in the last episode, yet are going to spend over $10K on a party? Their lack of responsibility is sickening.

I was clueless about Christine's daughter as well and walked away from watching the show a bit confused. Didn't she say she was graduating? Why were they showing clips of a party just for Mariah then?

I seriously think that Meri suffers from depression and needs help. Unfortunately, that won't happen. They seem to be almost oblivious. :confused3

If they really are a "big" family, then each woman would have their own bedroom and the kids would share, regardless of who is their bio-mom. No need to keep separate households for each wife. Once you segregate by wife, as in each gets their own home, you have to treat each as equal.

I would agree on the step kids, if there were not 14 other kids to educate and the step kids are only his step kids and not the other wives.

That's what I would think too, if I was going by sheer logic, but from what little I know, unless we're talking threesome in every, ahem, way :rolleyes1, each mom is sort of a sub-nuclear family and the half-sibs treat each other somewhere between sibs and 1st cousins; they tend to have separate residences if the husband can afford it. Not every family is like that, of course, but that's pretty much the standard, and from what very, very little I've seen, it's usually the most stable arrangement.

(I've often thought that you can claim your sister wives are your BFFs and your DS rolled into one, but the truth is they're all that and a frenemy you can't escape, even on Christmas day! I think I'd want my own house too!)

But can imagine what a bath they'd have to take in resale value on those places if they ever sold any of the houses? You'd either have to sell ALL 4 of them or find someone nutty enough to live in the midst of a poly family.

I really couldn't understand how they could consider a party when they are struggling over college costs. I am sure they are paid well for the show, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to pay for the very nice houses! I don't understand why they need a "party", why not just have a get together for themselves?

I also agree with some of the other comments about their living situation. I would think they would like 1 very large house with 4 master bedrooms. Although...that would be one huge house!

And to think I almost cancelled my recording of this last night. I would want to miss THAT ironic little announcement. Better get my pile of shoes ready to throw at the TV! :rotfl:

Of course, I'm guessing the show will reimburse the cost of the ceremony but wouldn't do the same with college expenses. But if they want us to call this "reality tv" they need to try a little harder......

Yes, I know ....... I could quit watching. But where's the fun in that? popcorn::

Shocking..... Meri crying. I was as emotional as anybody last year with my son graduating and leaving for college. But even I could handle an occasional conversation without breaking out the waterworks. :rolleyes1 You are so right, those emotions come with a huge dose of pride in the child's accomplishments that typically outweighs our selfish tendency to only consider our own side of the equation.

And really...... do you think Kody has friends? When would he have TIME!!! :rotfl2: He's to busy sprinting back and forth around the cul-de-sac.:lmao:

I only tuned for a little bit but it was the part when Kody was at dinner with his friends and was talking about he was in charge of his family. I found it to be very demeaning to the women. And they glossed over the whole part of Janelle not moving to Utah with him. Blech

Here's my two cents on last night's episode :) ...

1. TLC will probably be paying for their recommitment party the same way Bravo TV pays for all the Real Housewives parties, weddings, etc., ... And that is why the Brown's are not concerned about the $$ to pay for it ... But of course they are not going to tell the viewers that ... The same way that I'm sure TLC paid for those mats they put in Christine's garage ... They looked pretty expensive also ...

2. Meri needs to get a grip already ... Yes, I am sure she is going to miss Mariah and be a little sad about her being away from home, but please, she's going away to College, it's not like she's going away forever ... And to be honest, I have a feeling that Mariah may be back home sooner that Meri thinks ... Mariah seems very immature to me and may not be as ready to be away from home as she may think ... But we'll see ... And also, I think Meri will adapt very well to being an empty-nester and being alone to tend to her "projects" and "work", as she put it ... Actually, down deep, I think she is looking forward to it ... I got this feeling when she went shopping with her friend Andrea ... She seemed so relaxed and like she was enjoying herself - a lot different then when she is with her sister wives ...

3. Has anyone noticed that Christine looks a little different? ... She looks a little younger to me ... I wonder if she had some work done :scratchin ...

4. Robyn just gets on my nerves ... She always seems to try and instigate Meri into speaking up ... Meri is a big girl ... She shouldn't need to rely on Robyn to get her to talk ... And what's with Robyn not liking animals? ... I can understand maybe being a little afraid of them but she said she doesn't like them ... But who doesn't like a cuddly baby kangaroo? ...

5. Janelle is just still down-to-earth Janelle ...

6. Kody needs a haircut and to grow up ... Funny how he cried over his friend Brett ... Has he ever cried over one of his wives? ... Oh, I'm sorry, probably not since he is the one who is in control ... I guess, in Kody's case, you can take the man out of his Man Cave (aka garage) but you can't take the Caveman out of the man ;) ...

But it's all just my opinion :) ...

I felt bad for Mariah and Meri that Mariah will be the only child of Meri to go to college and she was getting short changed. Let's face it, Meri's money will have to go to support sending how many other children to college but she has one child and she's being told to go to a cheap school. And she's going to have to help pay for Robin's kids from another dad. However, here's where I think Meri shot herself in the foot. She HAD to have the wet bar, which meant an extra room in her house. It wasn't fair that just because she had 1 child she should have to have a smaller house. I get it. If the budgets are the same for everyone, regardless of number of children, so be it. But she could have done with the extras in her house and used that money to put towards Mariah's college fund. She can't have her cake and eat it too.

And I do understand Meri's point about not knowing where and how she fits into the family now. I think she's having an identity crisis. She's been mom for so long, what's her role now? And she's right, she will be empty nesting alone. I also think she's afraid Kody will be spending less time with her now that Mariah is gone.

I don't feel even a tiny little bit bad for Meri. She chose the life. Now is the time to show that she truly believes herself to be a "sister wife".

All right, I don't think I've commented on Sister Wives before, but I do watch the show. Last night's episode left me with two comments, I will admit to having it on "for background noise" so I wasn't glued to the tv, but I noticed:

1. Installation of some very expensive looking wrestling mats. AND, did I hear one of the wives (the young pretty blonde one, Christine??) "blackmail" Cody into installing the mats in her home in exchange for what she said was EXTRA GROCERY MONEY?? Seriously?

2. I think it may have been the same "wife" that I saw in part of the episode, or maybe it was a trailer for an upcoming episode, cornering Cody outside, telling him he needs to spend more time with her.

That part I understood. It's like being the only one in the family with a pool: People come over, they have little parties and get-togethers, and they wind up eating all your food and drinks. Christine SHOULD get extra grocery money if she's going to have to give up her entire garage to a wrestling emporium.

So I did a little google searching and found Mariah's twitter account. She is definitely going to Westminster and there are quite a few tweets about her mom coming to visit. There was also rumors that her WM tuition was comped in exchange for that episode when they visited.

I think Meri's story is ALL scripted for drama.

If I hear them talk about that damn mission statement one more time....blech. This show is definitely a train wreck, I just can't look away from.

I think Kody has a serious man crush on Brett.

Isnt that the truth? I havent seen this show in a while but have DVR'd to start watching this season. Yes, train wreck watching, canNOT look away...

I am sure TLC will be paying the "starting at $10,500" recommitment party. Interesting how Kody is cheap with the other parties but with this one, he has a reputation to live up to. Can't believe what a selfish man he is!Why cant they have the party in the middle of their Cul De sac??? Certainly plenty of room for everyone. Everything they do, all I see are $$$$ and wondering how much it costs. The bungee jumping with the guys, Buying gifts, taking the mothers in law out for lunch, nice professional wrestling mats, renting a U-Haul, all the cars they have...and does someone have a POOL?? Too bad he wont part with the $14.95 for a hair cut from super cuts...sigh

and yes, Does Christine look a little "refreshed"?

Meri is faking all of it...didn't she look happy when she was out with her empty nester friend? I laughed out loud when they were at the picnic table and the other wives asked how they could make it easier for her? One of the suggestions was to bring the other kids over more often...I would have been HELL NO...I dont want kids to dirty up my new house and wet bar..lol

The newest wife, I cant think of her name, is annoying.

I'm still watching the train wreck too! I wonder how much $$ they get per episode. Just wondering..would any of you jump from the Stratosphere?! I'm thinking NO way for me :scared1::faint:
