Sister Wives

Christine seems unhappy and defeated. It was sad when she expressed how jealous she still gets. You have to wonder what she expected when she became a third wife.

she expected what is the 'norm' for modern day polygamists-to be the last wife (the robyn in the situation-the youngest and newest who got to spend the most time w/kody, had the youngest kids with kody...). robyn wrote in one of the books that most plural marriages this family knows of consist of only two or three wives. four wives is a rare occurrence. christine said early on in the series that she always only wanted to be a wife #3 because that way all the hard adjustments and jealousy issues going from one wife to two have been worked out so it's easier for the third to come in who doesn't have to deal as much with it. i'm sure when the idea of a 4th coming in was brought up it came as a shock to her.

christine has changed allot over the years-she used to be the one who was always agreeable, went along with everyone else, did what kody wanted.......she's finding herself.

But isn't he the one who was in such a big fizz to move in the first place?

he was and according to the older kids in their on-air interviews this was what happened every couple of years of their lives growing up. kody kept/keeps saying he was anti vegas b/c it wasn't a choice to move there because they were forced out of utah but the older kids have said that they never spent an extended period of time any place they lived (and extended family has said they had already been planning to move from utah but when they got the show decided to spice up the drama and make it look like a run for the boarder).

i feel for those kids, i think for the older ones vegas might have been the longest residency of their lives. for the younger ones it was really the only place they knew. i think all this idiocy of planning on building mammoth houses (or buying them as they now have 2 they own there-robyn's and christine's) is nuts. none of them have hoards of kids at home anymore unless their adult kids are living with them-meri has none, janelle has savanah who turns 17 this year, christine has ysabel who turns 18 in a few months and truely who will be 11 in april, that leaves robyn who only has breanna whose turning 17 soon and soloman and ariella who are 9 and 5. so unless the adult kids are still living there (and it seems like most have married, moved off to college or joined the military) you've got a household w/1 kid, a household w/2 kids and a household w/3 kids-seems like normal single family homes would fit the bill just fine.

But what about Robin? How many times can she bring the topic back to what about Robin? She thinks it is all her fault. She knows it is all about her. Why can't the other wives realize it is all about her......**Sarcastic tone here***

This show is such a train wreck......that I can't stop watching! :rolleyes1

I wonder if they had never gotten the show on TLC if Robyn would've even come into the picture? First of all, they probably couldn't have afforded a 4th wife. Second, and I'm sure Kody enjoyed it either way, was it presented a storyline to keep them on the air.
I am aware that Meri had pointed Robyn out to Kody earlier on, but it could've been in a teasing way. Like kidding around ya know?

I think he was courting robin when the show started. It’s probably how they got the contract.

I just watched last Sunday's episode where they went to Utah to visit another polygamist family. Was it actually a new one or something from an earlier season? It really didn't seem to be a continuation from the previous week at all.

I liked it when they focused on all the families and kids. Now it just seems it's only about the wives and Kody. It seems so "woe is me" now.

It was a new episode. This season seems to be focusing on the fact that the family is at a crossroads, of sorts. They're not living or functioning as a family. Everyone has differing opinions on living in one house vs. four. No one, except perhaps Janelle, seems to even know how they want things to be going forward. They visited the other polygamist family that lives together and seems to be making it work. That family seemed so much happier and than the Browns. I think we were supposed to see that contrast.

I also bet they ran out of other material. The weddings have slowed down and everyone had to quarantine. Not a lot to work with there.

That said, I also agree about the crossroads. I blame Kody for pushing them all to move for no real reason. At least none that is readily apparent. They would be in much better shape in close proximity on the cul-de-sac.

It was a continuation because they brought up the lunch from the previous episode. I still loathe Kody, but at least his hair is looking better.

In the interview session, did Jonelle's lip liner look messed up to anyone else? It looked like extra line off her mouth to me.
She had a fairly large wart on her upper lip and it looks to me in the most recent episode that she's had it removed and maybe there's a little scar there now instead.
ETA: I googled it. :( Apparently it was a dime-sized lump of basal cell carcinoma that had been enlarging for the past several years. With the removal the prognosis is good, according to the little clip I saw.

I don’t necessarily think the issues come from being a polygamist family rather it’s that they’re a polygamist family lead by Kody. He’s brought their lives crashing down time after time and takes zero responsibility for it. They’re all angry at him which makes them angry at each other. It’s really sad to see how far gone the family is. Maybe they always were and are now just past putting on a good show.

What is up with the painted on eyebrows on the couch?
I agree here. In the Mormon religion, the man is the Priesthood holder of the household so basically, what he says goes and they've all said it before, Kody is never settled. He keeps searching for the dream and makes them move over and over again. I really hope they get the big house because they'll never be able to sell it and he'll have to let those women settle down finally. I love the idea of the big house and I think it's stupid of them to look at those plans and not see that it's like a giant apartment building with a big club house built in! It's the exact same as separate houses right beside each other but with actual consideration for your exhausted husband built in. I mean didn't he say it would be cinder block walls? You wouldn't be able to hear a peep. Hell, I want to move into the big house! lol

Reading their book shows things were never rosy.
If anyone recalls the nacho comments about Christine knows that marriage was not happy from the beginning.
I read the book and you're right. I remember the nacho comment and it sure made me think that this dude never actually falls in love, he just looks for a decent fit. With the exception of Robin who he seemed and still seems like he would rather be monogamous with and forget all the rest. It's weird when I see them together, they act like THEY are the main couple and the rest is just business. There is something telling in the fact that this really good looking guy only picks homely looking women. Sorry to be blunt but it's true. None of them are on quite the same looks level as he is and for me that says something about HIM. I don't give him credit by thinking he's looking deeper at these women because I doubt that. Poor Meri should just go. She doesn't stand a chance and Kody is too far gone for him to rekindle anything with her. It's just not there and we all see it. It's there for Meri but Kody almost looks disgusted by her. She need to cut and run while she is still young. I think Christine creates most of her own drama by finding problems that aren't really there. Jealousy will eat you up. She used to be my favorite but all her BS made me switch to Janelle. She is the only level headed, solid and grounded person in the family and she goes with the flow exceptionally well. I want Kody to put his foot down, be the Priesthood holder that he is and just build the big house and tell them that's what they are doing and this is how it is. They signed up for this. Problem is, they know that they can bully him. But in turn they need to tell him that if he tries to move them again, the family will split up because THIS is what is running them into the ground.
