Sirius/XM Renewal

I am sooo happy that I found this thread! My 3 month subscription that I have been paying $48.90 for was about to expire tomorrow. I called, I simply said "I know people who are getting 6 months of service for less money than my 3 months." Her reply "I will give you 6 months for $27.58 if you would like to pay today." Heck yes. Thank you so much for all the info on this thread!

Awesome news!

I let mine go, they couldn't renew at the same cheap price (5 per month) but the funny thing is I keep getting 'free ticket' invites to local concerts as a loyal subscriber:lmao:

No, they would only go as far as the $25 for 5 months for me too. That was after two other offers that I told them were'nt good enough and just to cancel. It was definitely work to get there.

Make sure... if you get one of these "deals" that you call in and tell them you want invoice billing. Otherwise, if you paid with a credit card, you will likely be renewed at full price when your "deal" is over.

Did you have to get a card or just call? I have called 2x and they say wait for a card or pay full price!

I just got a bill. My husband got a month thrown in at the dealer and then they billed me for the next twelve.

Yup. The $2 charge for the paper invoice is worth it to me, so I don't have to call and go through the BS of a hefty refund every time the bill comes due.

If you give them a credit card number, you are agreeing to be auto-billed.

I didn't know that was even possible. Hmmmm...
When I called a few weeks ago I was offered the 5 for 25 deal but it would be effective that day instead of when our current contract expires which isn't until Dec 9. So instead of adding 5 months onto Dec 9, I'd lose mid Oct to Dec. 9. Forget it! I'll call back 2 days before they're due to bill my cc.

If your CC has the option of generating one-time use numbers, you could create a number just for the initial subscription amount. When your subscription is up and they try to auto-charge your card the charge will be declined.

DH and I each have subscriptions, but they are on separate accounts that renew at different times. About 2 months ago, I called a month early to tell them to not auto-bill when DH's subscription reached the cancellation date. When asked why, I simply said the value of the service for him didn't warrant the high renewal cost so we were going to cancel. They very quickly offered him 12 months for about $80; as neither of us wants to deal with renegotiating every 5 or 6 months, we accepted that rate. They did begin the new rate immediately, even though there was a month to go on the old subscription, but they also gave us a credit for the unused month - fair enough.

A couple of months later, I called in again to cancel the auto-renewal on my car; same situation - I was about a month away from the renewal date. I was again offered the same 12-month deal when I explained the full price wasn't worth it to us, especially since we commute to work together most days; it's almost like each car is only used half-time.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to jump through hoops or transfer to another department to get a rate we were comfortable with.

Oh yes, like a visa gift card. They're free if you have an acct with TD :thumbsup2Bank.

I'd get one for $1 more than the amount you need to charge. When they enter a cc #, it does a test ping for $1 to make sure it's a valid card. While the $1 charge is still "pending", not fully charged but on hold, your visa gift card will not allow a 2nd charge of the full amount. I went through all of this trying to buy a Disney gift card online and use a visa gift card to pay for it.
Eventually the $1 would be returned to the card but at least your transaction would go through smoothly.
