I was readimg the fine print on the offer. Before I send in my check I wanted to see if anyone knows if they automatically sign you up and bill you for the normal subscription rate at the end of the 5 months. I do not have any credit card on file with them. I learned that the hard way. So, Iwill be paying with a check. Thanks for any advice you have to offer.

where is this offer? I would love to sign up for it.
to answer your question, I have always had them do automatic sign up in the past which is what I disliked about it but for that offer I would go through the hassel of canceling the renewal.

Yes, they usually require automatic renewal to qualify for the special price. Just set a reminder to call the day before and cancel.

When you call to cancel, just tell them it's too expensive. They'll offer you half price, then six months at half price, and, if you continue to turn them down, they'll finally offer five or six months for $25.

I bypass that offer because I do NOT want a credit card on file with them. So I call and get the best offer I can. In August I called and ended up with a deal that is about 8.25 for a year, not 6 months. I flat out told them I was old, never did "auto pay", don't even use a debit card (all true) and they would have to quote me a price and I would sent a check. I am far happier doing it this way, and it is still a pain to have to call once a year (oh well).

Is that OP rate (6mos/$25) or the Midwestdee's second rate ($8.25 per month for 12 months) for "All Access" or is it limited to music or something else?

Maddle

DH just calls every 5 months and tries to cancel and they give him 5 more months for $20-25. He just did it Saturday and they offered him 5 months for $19 with no hassle.

My offer came because my subscription is due to expire and they have no credit card on file for automatic renewal. I think I will have to call them when it gets a little closer to expiration date.

Even if you put a credit card on file with them you can always go back in to your account an delete it. Then when renewal times nears they send you a bill.

My annual rate at about 8.25 a month is everything - Today Show, music, talk, sports - can't think of anything I'm lacking . The biggest thing against having a credit card on file is if you get busy - pass the deadline and they auto renew you at big bucks and then it would be a big headache to straighten out. Perhaps someone more disciplined/less busy wouldn't find it a big deal - but I don't like being locked into anything.

It amazes me how many people say they do this and every single time I've tried they don't offer me anything !

Have you cancelled? It sounds like you're doing it wrong if you've tried multiple times.

This is the 4th time I've called to give me $5 a month or CANCEL. But it was a little different. They removed my credit card on file so that I won't be billed in case I forget to call. But they said they charge $2 for a bill to be generated. Anyone else hear that?

They must hear weakness in your voice! Have someone else call for you, they got you pegged!;)

They may have charged for the bill to be invoiced. I just pulled the bill and it didn't show anything broken down, just the 100.03 for the year (worked out to 8.33 a month) but in my memory - I think it is possible. For me, no problem! Given the odds I would forget to call before they billed my charge or the amount of time I would spend on the phone to straighten it out - $2 would be nothing. I think it is a scam but a lot of businesses throw a similar "fee". I decide how annoying it is versus whether I like the company overall and go from there. The previous poster that said they never get offered anything - don't give up. Like somebody else said - cancel if you have to. My DH says I'm so obnoxious they'll do what I want to get rid of me - but he's still here after 37 years!

Yes, you are billed for a paper invoice.

Even if you use a credit card over the phone, there is a point when the sales person is reviewing the purchase with you and you just respond "no" when auto renewal is mentioned. I have done this twice now and have managed to get the 6 months for $25 deal each time.

I actually did cancel once and left it cancelled for a few months before I picked up a trial offer and restarted..

I've heard other people say they have had no success with this either, so I know I'm not the only one. It's awesome, though, that it works for some of you.

It doesn't work for me either. I absolutely despise that company. I listen to their preview channel. Until their customer service ( and I use that term VERY loosely) changes, I will have nothing to do with them. There is no reason I want to beg to be a customer and beg for the rates other people get.

I would gladly pay the yearly rate that many have posted but every time I have called to try and get it, they treat me as though I am totally making it up!

Thanks for all of the advice everyone. I received the renewal email yesterday so I called this morning to cancel my subscription. She offered me a promotional rate of $89.00 for 1 year. So, I grabbed it. It works out to be $7.41 per month. I can live with that. :cool1:

I just renewed. First offer was $89/year but with taxes was over $100. I said that was more than I could do right now and she offered 5 months for $25. Was $28 and change with taxes. We have been customers since 2007. I had her remove my credit card. Will just call back before expires again.
